Data from @InsideAirbnb has a licence number. Only 1,364 of 5,936 listings display an @Edinburgh_CC licence number. This would suggest just 23% of all listings are properly licensed with >75% giving the law the finger 🤔 Meanwhile legal operators are being shut down. #SaveSC

For anyone who believes the nonsense spouted that self-catering is the cause of all ills in this city, they should look at local #Facebook groups to confirm the opposite. Self-Catering has been treated as a convenient #scapegoat by all political parties. #SaveSC

Meanwhile, the reality is that full-time residents have to put up with other residents who are never held to account by @Edinburgh_CC The problem has never been to any measurable degree people who operate self-catering in city centre Edinburgh. #SaveSC

And your point is @DrRAGreen assuming this is a call out on how the US will legislatate to target the thing that's not the actual problem?

Perfect example of unintended consequences have provided accomodation in the same circumstances hotels are just not what is needed as a family who are also dealing with the trauma of losing their home

And those eye-watering fees are non-refundable if a license is refused. And @Edinburgh_CC expect to refuse 80%, on their own figures. (Whilst having a financial interest in hotels in Edinburgh, who are set to gain hugely by putting up their prices as competitors are closed.)
