“This is starting to feel less like serious policymaking and more like an unhealthy obsession,” said Fiona Campbell MBE, CEO of the ASSC. scottishhousingnews.com/articles/gaeli… @FionaCampbell74 @st_alliance @SaveSCScotland
Selective data is misleading. Look at the total number of full time registered 'secondary lets' licensed by the city council for accurate numbers. It paints a different story. It's 2k not 9k & since new legislation we now have a huge unsafe unpoliced black market. #SaveSC

638 views to date. No likes. Ouch. I guess ideological policies and the destruction of local, small self-catering businnesses is not an actual vote winner! Even your mate Booth has distanced himself from the STL scandal. @SaveSCScotland
Given the huge number of new hotels that have opened since the start of the STL controls, it seems obvious... And there's a housing emergency, yet hotels are also being favoured over housing Something compelling (and rotten) is influencing these decisions @SaveSCScotland
Councils claim "it's not a ban" on self-catering — but they're manipulating planning rules to guarantee failure. 🔹 Subjective conditions 🔹 Inconsistent application of rules 🔹 Businesses shut down one by one A ban in all but name. #AbuseOfPower @SaveSCScotland @ASSCnews
“The council website seems to be out-of-date or at least not recently updated. If the council wants to give us all enough time for a summer launch, then we need some more information on what’s planned and when. I’m not talking about comforting words but a concrete project…

The failed licensing scheme has encouraged illegal operators and the blanket ban by @Edinburgh_CC on all legal STLs is creating an unholy mess #SaveSC
Data from @InsideAirbnb has a licence number. Only 1,364 of 5,936 listings display an @Edinburgh_CC licence number. This would suggest just 23% of all listings are properly licensed with >75% giving the law the finger 🤔 Meanwhile legal operators are being shut down. #SaveSC

It's not so much biased as simply not properly utilising the tool by the author to extract accurate and meaningful data. But ignorance of what you are doing, or not even being aware of why it is to be used with great caution, is disappointing. #SaveSC
There is an easy and verifiable source of data available in the City of Edinburgh Council STL Licence register. Or did the true facts not meet your narrative? I thought the BBC were committed to only using independent verified data. Your source of data is clearly biased
The booming black market of unlicensed, potentially unsafe, accom in Edi steps meets festival demand after the @Edinburgh_CC blanket ban has shutdown longstanding licensed operators.. all enabled by the botched STL licensing scheme. @MairiMcAllan assc.co.uk/industry-news/…
Trying to do a work Teams meeting in a flat on the High Street but it’s impossible with the noise. But @Edinburgh_CC think this area is great for family homes. Yeah, right @SaveSCScotland #savescscotland
Spot on. Walk a couple of hundred yards away from the insta spots and its empty.
Seriously, a simple AI search makes more sense than this article. 🙄 you should not be posting articles that lack credibility - you're adding to the enormous harm done to local, small self-catering businesses @SaveSCScotland
Andrew, Andrew, Andrew, for the love of evidence-based data, please retract the incorrect figures. We desperately need integrity in reporting. Irreparable damage has already been caused to small, local self-catering businesses & articles like these cause more harm @SaveSCScotland
@BBCMoreOrLess perhaps you could fact check this data on short term let property because airbnb data is notoriously misleading. Edinburgh council has licence data and legally now all short term lets are required to have a licence and this number does not match the 6k claim
Accommodation Crisis Looms as Edinburgh Faces Festival Season with Inadequate Short-Term Let Supply With over 500,000 visitors expected for the world-renowned Edinburgh Festivals this August, the city has just 2,615 licensed secondary short-term lets (max capacity: 11,821…
Just for some context Scotland's capital gets less than a quarter of the overseas visitors that visit Barcelona. We do not have overtourism. We have bad destination management. #SaveSC @ASSCnews
