Councillor for Mildmay Ward, Islington | Executive Member for Community Safety | My views & RTs≄endorsement | @GMB_union | @Unitetheunion
It’s #ASBAwarenessWeek & the theme is #MakingCommunitiesSafer I’m urging all residents to complete the Council’s Community Safety Survey; the vision is to continue to build a proactive, data-led response to ASB & your views really help 📢 Have your say: forms.office.com/pages/response…
Amid the housing crisis, I am incredibly proud that, while never complacent, in Islington we have a REDUCTION in rough sleeping thanks to the hard work of many. Always more to do until we eliminate rough sleeping @IslingtonBC @IslingtonLabour @IslingtonNorth @MayorofLondon
Earlier this month, I co-signed a letter to @Steph_Peacock urging stronger action on unlicensed charity collections. Yesterday I joined community safety officers at Finsbury Park to raise awareness. We must protect the public & ensure charitable giving is safe & transparent.

Reports from @metpoliceuk on proposals to close some front desks at police stations. This will have a devastating impact on my constituents in Islington, Chingford and Hackney. The public needs 24-hour access to local police, a solution needs to be found.
Accessible public toilets are vital for us all to enjoy London. We're working hard to improve our offer of free, accessible public toilets across @IslingtonBC and I'm encouraging our partners like @TfL to do the same. Here's my letter to them about provision at Farringdon.
Knife crime destroys lives, harms communities & spreads fear Today I joined police in Finsbury Park for a weapons sweep around Andover. A clear show of partnership focused on prevention, knife recovery & safer streets. Council & police are committed to driving down violence.

Pleased to see Finsbury Park included in 12 high streets that will receive £50k funding from @MayorofLondon as park of his and @IslingtonBC’s sustainable growth agenda as part of a welcome boost to local businesses.
It’s #IslingtonFC tonight. Great to hear we have been: Ranked healthiest inner London borough for the fifth year in a row 🏡 Accredited platinum for our domestic abuse support services 👏🏻 Named the top-performing single-tier council in the UK for climate action 🌍 Top work!
For a safer Islington 📣📣📣
We’re working hard to make Finsbury Park cleaner and safer this summer. Regular patrols by the council’s Neighbourhood Patrol teams, Parkguard, and police recently helped cut anti-social behaviour in the area by 50%.
Thank you @MayorofLondon for prioritising safety in Finsbury Park as part of the Safer Streets Summer Initiative. A stronger police presence will really support our local shops and make the area feel safer for everyone who lives, works, and visits.
This summer, town centres and high streets will see more police, as part of our collaborative work to tackle shoplifting, theft and anti-social behaviour. We’re working with the Met, local partners and community groups to build safer town centres and a safer London for everyone.
🌈 Good luck to everyone heading to London Pride today! Wishing you a day full of joy, love, and unforgettable moments. Stay safe, be proud, and celebrate you.

Really looking forward to joining the Mildmay Community Centre unity event this Saturday. A great day to celebrate togetherness and local spirit. See you there! @MildmayCP

🚨 Today we launched our #ASBAwarenessWeek 2025 campaign in Finsbury Park! Islington is backing “Stronger Communities, Safer Streets” with real action. Today we walked key ASB hotspots around Nags Head and Seven Sisters. 👉 Report/learn more: islington.gov.uk/community-safe…

I'm calling for a parliamentary debate on the “aim to permit” rule that forces councils to approve new gambling shops, even when high streets are already overrun and communities object. Local voices should matter. Community cohesion should matter. Let's put people before profit.
Big thanks for arranging @drjohnwoolf - looking forward to exploring improvements for other Mildmay estates very soon
Great to be out on the Mayville Estate discussing community safety and housing @Angelo__Weekes
Many are increasingly concerned by the rise in shoplifting. While I understand the pressures many face, it can put staff & customers at risk. Am pleased to see Neighbourhood Policing Week start with a focus on this issue, & I’m glad the council is supporting this week of action.
