Scotland’s hard-pressed tourist industry can’t afford a visitor levy - today’s @TheScotsman column scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…
It was in January 2024 that I put the first spade in the ground at @sizewellc- a very proud day. So today’s news on Final Investment Decision is positive, although long overdue and we will be keeping a very close eye on cost and taxpayer exposure moving forward…
Very proud today to be at Sizewell C for the important milestone for @sizewellc- greenlighting to move to construction, ahead of final investment decision expected later this year. Meaning- 💸£4.4bn of investment ⚛️Thousands new jobs 👷♀️1500 new apprenticeships
…whilst 400 jobs are to be lost every two weeks in the North Sea… One might suggest that the fact no Labour MPs represent Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire might explain their ambivalence to those workers and our oil and gas industry…I wouldn’t possibly comment.
REVEALED: Labour have admitted they spent £30 million keeping British Steel running in the last month alone. That's £1 million a day... Is anyone surprised that Ministers who have never run a business have no idea what they're doing?
Wow. £113 per mw hour for offshore wind 🤦♂️ Claire is right, this is gruesome. No wonder Ed waited for Parliament to go into recess before announcing this…
🚨BREAKING🚨 Maximum strike prices for Ed Miliband's missing wind auction are out. Gruesome. Offshore wind: £113/MWh Higher than last year. Highest in a decade. And that's before all the extra costs of grid, backup, and wasted wind. As a comparison, the average cost of…
Very disappointed by Politics Live’s decision not to go to Party Conferences. Conferences are an essential part of the political process in the UK and a chance to engage with members and volunteers (and not just MPs) as well as getting the ‘mood’. I hope they think again.
The BBC has decided not to send its flagship Politics Live programme to party conferences this year, PolHome understands A former culture secretary said it was a "further erosion" of the BBC's political coverage, and urged the corporation to think again politicshome.com/news/article/b…
We are through the looking glass now. Hostile language. An impossible fiscal regime. The wilfull de-industrialisation of the UK driven by ideology and driven from Whitehall. This Labour Government is costing jobs and surrendering our energy security 👇
🥀 Grangemouth 🥀 The North Sea 🥀 Immingham The dindustrialisation of our United Kingdom is a serious concern, for workers, communities, our economy and our energy security 👇
Very sad to hear of the death of Jamie McGrigor, a lifelong servant to Scotland and the @ScotTories. One of the class of 1999, an MSP through to 2017, and then councillor for Oban until 2022, he was one of the best. Respected on all sides. He will be greatly missed.
Last day of term and a reflection on Labour’s disastrous first year and its impact on Scotland 🥀👇
Farming matters. In Scotland more than almost anywhere in the UK. No other Party is defending agriculture and our farming way of life. Kemi gets it. I get it. The @Conservatives and @ScotTories will always fight for our farmers. Dump the Family Farm Tax. Today.
A country that can’t feed itself cannot be truly secure. That’s why farming matters. Food security is national security.
But, y’know, “Labour protected Defence” 🙄
#OnThisDay 20 years ago MOD announces that 12 ships will be paid off. T45 order reduced from 12 to 6, personnel reduced by 1,500. 1SL at time said 'I am confident that these changes will leave the Navy better organised and equipped to face the challenges of the future.'
Ed Miliband’s wind auction is 8 MONTHS LATE. And now it looks like he will start it in recess so he doesn’t have to face questions in Parliament. Why? Because he knows it will prove that his promise to cut your bills by £300 was a lie. Here’s why👇🏾
The SNP should offer lessons in ineptitude rather than independence 👇
The SNP have no idea how many foreign nationals are in receipt of benefits, paid for by hardworking Scots. This is utterly inexcusable. It is clear that the SNP have lost control of the welfare budget, with millions being squandered. scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/…
On Friday the Conservatives tabled a number of a amendments to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill designed to limit the powers of environmental regulators over nuclear projects, and reduce the chances of new nuclear projects being subjected to Judicial Review These are welcome…
Labour inherited a recovering economy. One year later: it’s bleeding out. Starmer and Reeves crashed the car with their budget but haven’t learned the lesson: You can’t tax your way to growth. Britain can’t afford any more high taxes. We need to cut spending. Now.
A Government that knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing 🥀
EXCL: Government will stop using wax seals on official documents. Seals were first used by Kings 1,000 years ago and have been used by the Govt for 150 years. It will be scrapped as part of red tape slashing drive to speed up govt for taxpayers Fab story by @SophiaSleigh
