First new blog post in a while, exploring how biology is the most advanced tech-stack in the known universe and AI and Robotics will enable us to one day grow things like rockets.

Weird how people say they're honoring their religion by employing schoolyard level tricks to get around sacred precepts, as if God can't see through “not touching, can’t get mad" style reasoning.
Interstellar PE rollup play is dragging Jupiter-class planets into Brown Dwarfs just on the cusp of enough mass for hydrogen fusion, turning their surrounding frozen asteroid hellscapes into viable M-class planetesimals.

Jupiter is a failed star; without nuclear fusion there is no pressure to push back against gravity. As it contracts it slowly heats up, driving complex weather systems. Contracting at 1 mm/year makes it emit ~7.5 Watts per square meter, more energy than it gets from the Sun.

Not to name names but AI products that tell you exactly what to do and say such that people no longer think for themselves is the premise of the Butlerian Jihad.
Pretty based that the guy who started @reindsummit is also tacking arguably the hardest manufacturing challenge. Straight for the jugular, just like prison.
the immense value of oneshotting tooling development is really only understood by those that have felt this pain before (spoiler it's a multi trillion dollar problem)
Commercial air travel has to be the highest ratio of "might of engineering" to "shittiness of human experience" It would be more enjoyable to take a paddleboat or walk for the same number of hours as flying on a plane, to say nothing of airports.
Biological systems are not just molecular computers, but sophisticated electromagnetic communication and computation devices. Around every living thing is wrapped a bioelectric field of extracellular information processing that coalesces into the phenomenon we call experience

The purpose of intelligence is to understand the universe, and the destiny of intelligent beings is to explore it in its entirety. Earth is our school, our training ground, preparing us for the greatest adventure still to come - a life among the stars.

Language is a low dimensional encoding of experience. But shared cultural context can produce almost lossless reconstruction. "Darmok and Jalad, at Tanagra."
DJI didn't get massive by building drones for the military but for consumer applications. For manufactured goods global consumer industry is ~40x the size of the US defense industry.
My Reindustrialize conference take away: domestic manufacturing is having its moment, which is great. Been waiting for this moment for 15 years. But everyone is too focused on defense manufacturing - which is important - but we need consumer products manufactured in the United…
