Mummy to Aliona Grace. Inquest 2023 found she died due to “neglect” and “a number of gross failings of the most basic nature” in Leeds. @safe_maternity member.
BBC Look North Interview (1 of 2)(second video in thread)
When historians look back on this maternity scandal (says he, hoping it will end) one of the big questions they will ask is how, given how many babies and mothers died or were harmed, so few individuals were held accountable?
This is an example of someone jumping from a sinking ship. It shouldn’t be allowed for someone who has been complicit in the deaths of women and babies to just be able to walk away and credited for their “outstanding leadership”. How is this where we’re at?
Statement from some of the Bereaved and Harmed Families in Leeds on the resignation of LTHT CEO. Chair of LTHT board has praised the CEO for his “outstanding leadership”; This is an insult to every wrongly bereaved/harmed family during his tenure as CMO and CEO. @wesstreeting
@wesstreeting how much more can you need before you finally order an independent investigation into maternity services at LTHT?
This alone tells you everything about the culture at Leeds. Service user input seen as “distracting”. Little external review. No clear learning. No real oversight. And somehow, this trust with “outstanding leadership” has 101 recommendations from MSSP leedsth.nhs.uk/services/mater…
‘Staff’ (which can only mean midwives obstetricians or managers) describing service user input into the PMRT process (so that’s bereaved parents) as ‘distracting’ - and we’re supposed to go with the narrative that no one goes in meaning to harm. Complete disconnect!

What an insulting, dehumanising comment to all of the bereaved parents in Leeds.

Professor Phil Wood is to retire at the end of this year - after less than three years in the top job: hellorayo.co.uk/greatest-hits/…
How 'convenient.' Probably very keen 'to spend more time with his family,' as that seems to be the go-to excuse of failed NHS CEOs, who want to make a hasty exit in order to avoid scrutiny and legitimate challenge.
Well, well, well, what do we have here? A CEO of an evolving maternity scandal ridden trust has apparently and ever so coincidentally been “considering retirement”. 🤔🤥 Leeds THT CEO Phil Wood suddenly announces retirement. “Jump Ship” seems to spring to mind…@wesstreeting
Sussex… Leeds… If only there were some kind of pattern to look for… 😶 #MaternitySafety #NHSLeadership #Accountability

Perhaps important context that the trusts which will face maternity investigations are expected to be announced within days.

An eloquent and empassioned interview with @Laurenncaul , detailing her tragic experience and the state of UK Maternity services. The Midwifery profession is very fortunate to welcome someone of her calibre and motivation into their ranks.
Thank you @Channel4News for having me back. Talking about health inequalities and baby loss makes people uncomfortable but that silence is why it keeps happening. We need a full, judge-led statutory inquiry. Nothing less will do. For Grace. For every family failed 🤍
Hugely well done Lauren: Grace will be looking down on her amazing mummy with such pride ❤️
