“Among the enemies' names / write your own too.” - Franco Fortini, 'Translating Brecht'
Multiple reports from the UN, reports from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, experts and genocide scholars have all gone through a mountain of evidence and concluded Israel is committing genocide. @nytimes is platforming genocide denial. Utterly disgraceful.
The centerpiece of our program for @montez_radio: A long conversation between Ruth Wilson Gilmore, abolitionist organizer and Marxist geographer, and six student militants for Palestine. The goal: reflect on last year’s encampments—their trials, glories, feelings, and facts.
Liberalism is, above all, process. Justice is asymptotic. We’re always ABOUT to sanction Israel, always ABOUT to have a ceasefire, ABOUT to have a two state solution. So long as there’s a PROCESS towards some high minded goal the fact of genocide can be morally compartmentalized.
Adam Boulton: "International statesmen from these 24 countries are getting closer to saying Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war" The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for using starvation as a weapon of war 8 months ago.
what's maddening is that this has been obvious from the beginning but there have been so many people pretending that this isn't what's happening
In the Israeli Knesset Today: “Meeting of the Lobby for the Renewal of Jewish Settlement in the Gaza Strip Topic: "The Gaza Riviera – From Vision to Reality" “ This isn't just some right-wing fantasy. They mean it. They're planning what comes after ethnic cleansing in Gaza.
NYT’s role is to reduce textbook genocide to a series of bumbling accidents, “bad planning” or the unfortunate but inevitable result of “war”. This is why they constitutionally refuse to contextualize this with the dozens of openly genocidal statements made by Israeli officials
Why is this paper like this?

Hard to think of one image which captures the cowardice, authoritarianism and banality of the Starmer regime, but I think this is a contender
It’s worse than “Gaza is being starved and destroyed and no one cares.” It’s that hundreds of millions *do* care and are powerless to stop it. We need a world where that can never happen, where the masses actually have political power.
It is so late, Ms Kallas. Only sanctions can stop Israel. Suspending the EU agreement with Israel is a must. Anything less will be just performance, which the millions of Europeans who are grieving for the genodice in Gaza, would much prefer being spared from.
The killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible. I spoke again with @gideonsaar to recall our understanding on aid flow and made clear that IDF must stop killing people at distribution points. All options remain on the table if Israel doesn’t deliver on its pledges
Malthouse *was* right to personalise it. Lammy has been the chief spokesman for British complicity. We need to personalise it with *every* MP who is not up in arms about Gaza, especially those who voted to criminalise direct action protests: the starving are their responsibility
Extraordinary scenes in the Commons tonight as Tory MP @kitmalthouse correctly accuses UK foreign secretary David Lammy of complicity in Israel’s crimes and warns him that he could end up in The Hague
Israel imposed its total siege in Oct ‘23. US cut UNRWA funding in Jan ‘24. The fact that 2 million are starving now was not only foreseeable, it was deliberately planned and executed. Obfuscating this is genocide denial
ABC, NBC, CBS News ran token reports on Gaza starvation yesterday and had all the tropes: -“Hamas-run health ministry” -Centering Israeli denials -Framing it as the unfortunate result of a new “military offensive” -Zero mention of open Israeli starvation and de-population plans
Press and civil society must demand that governments urgently take the concrete actions that Francesca calls for, to *break* relations with the genocidal Israeli state. Otherwise, all our concern for the starving people of Gaza is not going to help.
Negotiating with Israel on how to manage what remains of Gaza and West Bank, in Brussels, NY or elsewhere, is an utter dishonor international law. "Each state must immediately review and suspend all ties with Israel. Their military, strategic, political, diplomatic, economic,…
Europeans must make sure that the EU leadership which has protected Apartheid Israel and rewarded it with even more weapons, money and partnership as it committed intl crimes, will be held accountable. Both at the electiont ballots and before courts.
The other day EU leaders like @kajakallas told us they saw ‘positive signs’ in Gaza. Today all our friends in Gaza are telling us they are starving to death. I know who I believe.
Stop selling arms to Israel then.
The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths. Alongside 25 other partners, the UK message is clear: the war in Gaza must end now. We need an immediate ceasefire, release of all hostages and a full resumption of aid. gov.uk/government/new…
