Thanks for circulating, Steven. While it’s good that China is investing and picking up the torch, for someone who moved to US in 1993 for the outstanding first rate science, this is also sad to see. The US and NIH have been models of scientific leadership.
2025 Nature Index: Harvard has dropped to No. 2 after the Chinese Academy of Sciences. No. 1 and 3-9 are all Chinese research institutes. Meanwhile, American research institutes are facing a 43% cut in NIH funding and a 50% cut in NSF funding. Please, don’t look up.
