I spoke in Parliament against proposed changes to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) & Universal Credit (UC). This short clip is just the beginning, there’s much more, and it only gets better! @InclusionLondon #StopTheCuts Watch the full video here: youtu.be/nQcW_yvXM8A?si…
Policies that ignore or delay the implementation of accessibility measures, reinforce social inequality. On the other hand, when inclusive design is built into policy from the start, accessibility becomes a marker of democratic integrity. @InclusionLondon @LondonAssembly
The lack of inclusion is unacceptable. Alternative formats must be available from day one of every consultation. That’s the bare minimum for a truly inclusive London. I agree with Hina’s demands. Inclusion is a right, not a favour. @SadiqKhan @InclusionLondon
This makes me so angry: I requested accessible versions of the so-called "Inclusive" Talent Strategy consultation a month before it closed. Got nothing. City Hall's response? We'll provide them from 1st Aug - two weeks AFTER the main consultation ended. How is that inclusion?? 🧵
This is strong leadership. Thank you @SadiqKhan for standing up for humanity and speaking truth to power. The world cannot stay silent while Palestinians are starved, bombed, and erased. The UK must recognise Palestinian statehood. #CeasefireNow
The UK must immediately recognise Palestinian statehood. There can be no two state solution if there is no viable state left to call Palestine.

Co-Chair of Inclusion London, @AdamGabsiLDN said: “These are not PEEPs. They are tick-box exercises that shift responsibility away from those in power.” “This is not what the #Grenfell Inquiry called for, and not what we campaigned for.” buff.ly/blSkUJs

I’m proud of Rachael Maskell, Neil Duncan-Jordan, Brian Leishman, Chris Hinchliff, Rosena Allin-Khan, Bell Ribeiro-Addy, and Mohammed Yasin for speaking out against this government’s brutal welfare cuts. Thank you for putting Disabled lives before politics. 👏🏼 @InclusionLondon
Just had a call from @LFBHarrow Borough Commander Simon Horn, who assured me he’s aware of my lift situation and has his team ready to act. Exceptional leadership and service 👏🏼 @InclusionLondon @HarrowHAD
Rachael Maskell gave a powerful, emotional speech recognising that we, Disabled people, are human beings who deserve care, support, and respect. It moved many. To now see her punished reads to many of us as a consequence for acknowledging our basic humanity. @Keir_Starmer
BREAKING: Rachael Maskell has become the fourth Labour MP to be suspended from Keir Starmer's party today. Just listen to her impassioned speech and tell me she deserved this. What on earth is the PM thinking?
Disabled people have fought for years for real Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), the kind recommended after #Grenfell. These new rules are not PEEPs. They are a betrayal of the lessons from Grenfell. They will cost lives. buff.ly/zmkc5iJ
Our bin store & cleanliness have been ongoing issues, but with new cladding, balconies, and lifts, we stayed quiet. Silence was golden, until now. Both lifts are broken again in a building marked high fire risk with a simultaneous evacuation order. Some of us can’t evacuate. ♿️
👮♂️ Crimes motivated by hostility toward impairment are sometimes reclassified or misunderstood as random acts of cruelty or care-gone-wrong, rather than recognised for what they are, hate crimes. @InclusionLondon @LondonAssembly
New fire safety rules are a step backwards for Disabled people. They leave many without real protection. No duty to act. No guarantee of support. Disabled people's lives matter. Read more via @InclusionLondon: bit.ly/4lu3vwf #FireSafety #DisabilityRights
Important discussions last week with IL and DPOs on the social model and how educating decision-makers on it can lead to change. Thought-provoking comments as well about DPOs needing to be assertive and say ‘no’ to work that is not aligned with the model. #poweruptogether
Glad to meet with you to discuss #PEEPs (personal emergency evacuation plans), the government's new proposal gives us no protection in an emergency. We fear a repeat of Grenfell, without mandatory plans 2 get everyone out safely, including Disabled people x.com/AdamGabsiLDN/s…
🚨 The government released the RPEEPs regulations last Friday. @InclusionLondon’s @laura_vicinanza, @MariellaSHill, and team, have reviewed them and assessed the direction of travel. Read our full statement here: inclusionlondon.org.uk/services-and-s…
It's such a small thing to ask that the Mayor appoints a London disability champion, but it could make such a huge difference. Today I asked him for the third time to act, and for the third time he refused. Needless to say, I'm not going to let this drop. @InclusionLondon
Once again, the Government is failing Disabled people with cruel, callous disregard. The Grenfell Inquiry demanded Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs). These new regulations roll back not just basic equality but the right to safety itself.
The govt's proposals for improving fire safety for disabled residents in high rises involve adaptations only being made if the disabled resident can pay for it. So poorer disabled renters simply have to accept fire safety risks. (from @InclusionLondon)
