I will repeat that many lawmakers treating social media as their primary sphere of feedback has done an immense amount of harm to the country, because the average top reply here is from someone 3 standard deviations more insane than the rest of society.

Somewhere along the way, we turned “never make anyone mad” into the primary ethos of the Democratic Party. It’s how candidates are chosen, how staff are promoted, how consultants are hired, how campaign messages are chosen. Effectiveness is not as important as inoffensiveness.
