Actually, the privatised SWR was the worst offender for skip-stopping from 2021 and has been getting worse each year. We have all the stats on this in an FOI request from @networkrail this April. Journalists welcome to email if they are covering the topic.
This is skip-stopping. It’s a difficult decision between users of the line seeing late trains and users of Crewkerne station who must now use buses. First sign of a shift to a production-led nationalised railway? Would a private SWR have agreed this?

Open access will dilute the effectiveness of a nationalisation programme and force a public operator to behave like a private company which is exactly what we don't want! The evidence is clear that competition for public services is wasteful and results in profit leakage.

NYC’s fare-free bus pilot showed 12% faster trip times due to quicker boarding and reduced dwell time. The largest increase in new riders came from people earning under $28,000/yr. Tellingly, existing riders reported using savings from bus fares to pay for bills and groceries.
