Fighting for Welsh Rivers, holding to account those who legislate, regulate & pollute. We are a voluntary organisation. Moving to @welshriversunion.bsky.social
As 2024 draws to a close, this is a poignant reminder for those tasked with saving our home waters. For the avoidance of doubt, that's you: @Keir_Starmer @SteveReedMP @PrifWeinidog @huw4ogmore Define the outcomes & deliver! youtu.be/GT0mmVVhRfU
"Major concerns have been raised over Southern Water's drought plans which could see water continue to be taken from the River Test as water levels fall, the Echo can reveal." Yep another one, another WC who's only plan is to suck yet another river dry. Why in God's name has…
A Labour voice to listen to @JoStevensLabour @TufnellHenry @CatherineFookes @PrifWeinidog @huw4ogmore Forget England, in Wales we have a brilliant opportunity to lead, but will we!
R U ready to hand over £1,000bn to England's privatised water companies by 2050? Shareholders don't invest. Money will be extracted from customers; shareholders will own tassets/income streams, collect dividends. Public ownership is the only sane policy. leftfootforward.org/2025/07/public…

"Thames Water boss keeps bonus despite missing target after restatement." I used to ask a simple question. What do you have to do as a water company to have govt revoke your operating licence. I'm gonna add to that. What do you have to do as a CEO to get your bonus taken back?…
You have to go. Your credibility is shot. You clearly have no idea.
This is embarrassing stuff. Secretary of State gets involved in a spat about whether Scottish water quality is worse than English. Then tries to back it up with stats that tell us nothing about water quality.
OFFICIAL: The SNP are managing water pollution in Scotland even worse than the Tories did in England👇🏼
Apocalypse Now resonates well in West Wales replace Napalm with Slurry! @visitwales my arse! Why the businesses down there don’t create hell is beyond me.
You can't regulate a system inherently designed to put profit above public good. Join the movement for public ownership: actionnetwork.org/forms/water-be…
Sheep have a bad reputation but when used wisely can deliver many benefits In the conversation I had with Bill, we talked about the benefits of Shepherding something we don’t see much of in Britain
A must listen. Telling the @wateruk disaster (chaired by ex-Labour MP Ruth Kelly) @SteveReedMP wants to continue this disaster. I wonder if @WelshLabour have the guts to lead for real change in Wales? What you say @PrifWeinidog? Pse RT @Feargal_Sharkey bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
The last but one sentence nails so much.
Today I visited a range of habitats that were abundant in nature The one that stole the show was the newly created meadow full of thousands of Chalk Hill blues Grazed by sheep, at the right time and the right density Always a pleasure @Bill_Sutherland
Heist Chocolate are based near Cardiff and there’s a dry ski slope in Llangrannog 😉
Spot the difference. Time for public ownership: actionnetwork.org/forms/water-be…
How the private water companies operate: 🤑Rack up the debt 🤑Pay themselves billions 😡Make us pay for everything 💩Sod the infrastructure. They're the reason our water supply is in crisis! ❌Beefier regulation won't fix it. WE NEED PUBLIC OWNERSHIP NOW
The family farm is finished, decades, a slow death. Industrialisation of our food system is doing it. 1973 80,000 dairy farms today just over 7,000. Capitalism is a powerful force. Along with industrialisation comes the ability to externalise costs with no regulation of pollution
Would that be the newspaper than runs lots of “sponsored” stories about the environmental friendliness of a well known water company?
Well that's odd. 24 hours ago The Westmorland Gazette posted a story about swimmers getting sick while taking part in the Great North Swim on Windermere. Apparently sewage was being dumped into the lake at the time. 1 day later the article has disappeared from their website.…
"How sewage radicalised England." I think govt would do well to remember that. newstatesman.com/politics/uk-po…
The government's fetish for "slashing red tape" is leading the UK to lag ever further behind the EU on chemical safety. Meanwhile, the EU is being seduced by the siren calls of industry into "simplifying" (code for "reducing") regulation of chemicals. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Two decades of tireless work restoring habitat & creating eco-mooring sites (so boats' anchors don't tear seagrass out by the roots) by @seahorsecharity & @NOCnews, has paid off with a spectacular summer of seahorses off the Dorset coast this year 🌊 share.google/EeKyHpTRJ3QcDw…
