I always introduce myself by full name & as the anaesthetic doctor. I then point to my hat and say it’s here if you forget who I am. It makes a difference as a female for people to be able to see my role. It’s never assumed I am a doctor.
Yup I think it’s a slight shame that it is little remembered that Dr Kate Grainger in her original article wrote “I usually introduce myself as Dr Kate Granger and then ask how the patient would like to be addressed, always using their surname in the first instance.”…
