🚨 Some Personal News 🚨 I’m thrilled to be elected the new Deputy Leader & Finance Lead of @RedbridgeLive, the place I’ve called home my entire life. This is an immense honour, and I’m deeply grateful to my @redbridgelabour colleagues for placing their faith in me. /1

Pleasure to host @LordWajidKhan from Burnley along with @RedbridgeLive @vanisha_solanki @YusufJPatel & other amazing organisations working for the community of Redbridge. Good to hear Lord Khan’s vision for more integrated work & developing a better future for all communities
Wishing everyone celebrating a very Happy Eid al-Adha. May this Eid bring you lots of love, happiness and joy 🙏🏾

A great start to the morning talking to residents about their local issues and helping them get set up with the Love Clean Streets app so they can report problems easily.
Another successful surgery earlier today. Topics discussed included planning, traffic calming measures, anti-social behaviour and the conservation area. Thank you to all the residents who came to see us.
Last week I visited the new Mildmay Studio women's-only gym that is under construction in Ilford. We're redeveloping an under-used space in a prime location to deliver the leisure facilities that you have asked us for. Can't wait to try it once it opens!

Thinking of all those affected by the Bangladesh Air Force crash this morning in Dhaka. Awful news - praying for the recovery of all those affected. 🙏 🇬🇧🇧🇩
A very busy and productive surgery in the café this morning. Issues discussed included housing, homelessness, planning, and adult social care provision. Thank you to all those who came to see us. We will be back here again soon.
Today is Srebrenica Memorial Day. I had the honour of attending the moving ceremony at St Pauls Cathedral to remember the victims. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” A powerful reminder, especially with the suffering we see around the world today.

We are so proud of our SSPP children! A small group from our school took part in the grand opening of the new facilities at South Park yesterday, following ongoing discussions between our steering group and local councillors Tanweer Khan and Vanisha Solanki.
Thank you @vanisha_solanki, Deputy Leader of @RedbridgeLive, for your support on #DesigningForInclusion. #LGAConf25
Today we remembered Zara Aleena, walking with her loved ones to finish the journey she never made home. Zara will forever remain in our hearts 🙏🏾 A powerful reminder that so much more must be done to end violence against women and girls.

Yesterday, we held a special Armed Forces Day celebration outside Redbridge Town Hall to honour the contributions of those who serve and have served, raising public awareness of their dedication to our country.

On the third anniversary of Zara Aleena's murder, my thoughts are with her and her family today. Male violence is a scourge on society, and Zara deserved better. We are working hard in Redbridge to tackle these attitudes - but there's a long way to go. RIP Zara.
77 years ago, the HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury Docks. The Windrush generation embodied the best of Britain. To commemorate Windrush Day this year, I joined a local Windrush commemoration at Ilford Central SDA Church, with musical tributes by a nationally-acclaimed choir.
Great to meet @LordWajidKhan yesterday for a valuable discussion on collaboration, financial challenges, and opportunities in the borough, followed by conversations with MHCLG funded groups doing vital work locally. Thanks to @YusufJPatel for organising!

🕯️ Honoured to have attended the Srebrenica Remembrance Service to mark 30 years since the genocide of 8,000+ Bosniak lives Joined by dignitaries including @SadiqKhan, @AngelaRayner and others, we were reminded about why we must always confront hatred and division #Srebrenica30
Yesterday I spoke to @BBCLondonNews about the ongoing budget pressures councils face. While the Spending Review brought some support, it falls short of what’s needed. I visited Oakfield Lodge to understand the pressure on the front line. Watch my conversation ⬇️
This afternoon I spoke to @BBCLondonNews about the Spending Review and what it means for Redbridge. Times are tight, but we're delivering more with less in the most challenging financial circumstances ever. We're working with gov't & fighting for a fair deal for our residents.

Really sad news coming out of Ahmedabad this morning. My thoughts are with all those affected and their loved ones 🙏🏾
