Dropping food from the air in Gaza is an ineffective sideshow. During my time as UN relief chief we had to stop such aid. Minimal amounts were delivered and chaos and accidents occurred on the ground. All entries into Gaza have to be opened and distribution handed back to UN.
Very rare for the ICRC: "Every political hesitation" in failing to bring the "abhorrent" practice of extreme deprivation and indiscriminate attacks to an immediate and decisive end "will forever be judged as a collective failure to preserve humanity in war" States "must do more"
📍 Gaza | The scale of human suffering and the stripping of human dignity have long exceeded every acceptable standard, both legal and moral. This tragedy must end now. Mirjana Spoljaric, ICRC President 👉🏽 ms.spr.ly/6014sGyPq

For almost 2 years, the claim of mass aid diversion by Hamas has been the pretext for Israel's illegal policy of obstructing & restricting aid to Gaza. It was never plausible. Now, as starvation deaths mount, senior Israeli military officials admit that it was a lie.

"In my entire career, I have never witnessed the level of brutality and use of indiscriminate, unnecessary force against a civilian population—an unarmed, starving population ... until I was in Gaza, at the hands of the IDF and U.S. contractors." — Former U.S. Green Beret

After 4 months of a near-total Israeli siege, Gaza’s hospitals now have wards for the malnourished children whose tiny bodies are just the width of their bones. Aid groups had warned of this for more than a year. Now a worst case scenario is upon us. washingtonpost.com/world/2025/07/…
