An act of desperation on whose part, though, @bbc? Who are you suggesting is becoming desperate, why are they desperate and who are they desperate with? What is causing that desperation and is everything being done to relieve the desperation of those who are genuinely in despair?
What kind of a world are we living in where the international community is once again considering airdrops of aid to starving people in Gaza as if they were stuck on a remote isolated island inaccessible by land, rather than an enclave viciously blockaded by a "civilised nation".
"The flow of aid" should never have been restricted in the first place. The idea of starving a captive population is a war crime, no matter how evil you claim their government may be. The governments of Germany, France and the UK (and the US) are fully complicit in this atrocity.
