This is extremely true. Also, if you get your health insurance through your employer you don't need 17 kinds of paperwork, it's seamless. Finally, I want to live in a country that provides health insurance even when you are laid off or between jobs. These policies end that.
Policymakers are too unfamiliar with what low wage jobs look like. Requiring people to submit more paperwork is not the same thing as helping them to find a higher paying job or a job with more consistent and reliable hours.
For Americans with serious illnesses such as cancer, weakened federal protections from medical debt pose yet one more risk, said Elizabeth Darnall, @ACSCAN. “People will not seek out the treatment they need,” she said.kffhealthnews.org/news/article/m…
Americans should not be punished for having cancer, but across the country, people's lives are harmed by medical bills they cannot afford. That's why the overturning of a rule to ban medical debt from credit reporting is so destructive. More ⬇️ statnews.com/2025/07/22/med…
NEW: Millions of Americans trying to get Medicaid could soon have to navigate byzantine state systems to prove they have jobs. See how Georgia’s system has played out. @renurayasam + Sam Whitehead report. ⤵️ kffhealthnews.org/news/article/g…
Rural America has strongly backed President Trump and the GOP, yet the support is not reciprocated. Trump's Medicaid cuts will close rural hospitals, he cut rural broadband, and the rescissions bill would devastate public broadcasting stations in rural areas. Large parts of rural…
Great @tradeoffspod interview on the implementation challenges state Medicaid programs are staring down. "There have been exactly zero successes at implementing work requirements in this country… we've got two relatively well-documented struggle buses." tradeoffs.org/2025/07/10/big…
In KY, the avg person who is subject to this new coverage-contingent paperwork is a 40yr old woman in a household of 3 with a high school degree or less making $4k per year. She works part time, cares for loved ones, and will need to fill out monthly forms to keep her insulin.
Steve Scalise: "Disabled people will get better Medicaid under this bill because all of the fully able-bodied -- the 35-year-old guy sitting at home playing video games in his mom's basement -- he's gonna have to go work, because we put work requirements in place. And so he will…
"People will die" The Trump administration’s broadsides against scientific research are causing unprecedented upheaval at the National Cancer Institute, which has spearheaded advances against the disease for decades. Me + @ArthurAllen202 cnn.com/2025/07/08/hea…
the warnings that Medicaid cuts will lead to hospitals and health clinics closing across the country and especially in rural areas is not hyperbole or hysteria. it's basic math x.com/mattmfm/status…
Curtis is a small town of 900 people in rural southwest Nebraska. The Curtis Medical Center announced yesterday it is closing, after more than 30 years. It is the only health care provider in the community. They blame Trump’s Medicaid cuts. klkntv.com/rural-southwes…

In 2015, the year before Louisiana expanded Medicaid, the uninsured rate among working-age adults in East Carroll Parish was nearly 35%. By 2021, that number was 12.7%. “Why are we going back?” provider Jennifer Newton asked. “We’ve made so much progress.”
Over 11.8M could lose #healthcare as @realDonaldTrump's #bigbeautifulbill would cut $1T from #Medicaid over the next decade. People in the Delta say – national leaders are completely out of touch with the reality of what it’s like to live in rural America. stateline.org/2025/07/03/med…
The harm will be real. "Unfortunately, the current financial environment, driven by anticipated federal budget cuts to Medicaid, has made it impossible for us to continue operating all of our services..." klkntv.com/rural-southwes…
This provision has gotten relatively little attention, but it is ghastly. Imposing $35 doctor copays on sick people barely above the poverty line (e.g. $16,000 / year for single people) just means they don’t go to the doctor.
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” would require states to impose cost-sharing of up to $35 per service for some Medicaid enrollees enrolled through the ACA Medicaid expansion with incomes between 100% and 138% of the federal poverty level. Get the details: on.kff.org/4nGLmNp

Today, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that will kick nearly 40K Alaskans off health insurance, the majority of whom have #Medicaid @lisamurkowski @SenDanSullivan we’re extremely disappointed in your vote. This won't #ProtectMedicaid for Alaskans & cancer patients who need it.
Seems the only GOP consternation on Medicaid relates to provider tax limits, yet they're responsible for a small share of the ~10 million ppl expected to lose coverage Other policies make ineligible ppl who just lost a job & legal immigrants, throw up red tape to disenroll ppl
Rep. Greg Murphy says he “has not yet decided” how he’s going to vote on recon bill yet Said he’s concerned about the provider tax measures & is asking whether “it will be catastrophic for Eastern North Carolina” Did say rural hospital fund helps. Still mad about Senate doc fix
Medicaid cuts have consequences. Cancer patients could have trouble getting the treatment they need, others could go w/out cancer screenings and preventive treatment that could save lives. @RepYoungKim vote NO on the budget bill and #ProtectMedicaid & #ProtectAffordableCare
