Today, we announced new involuntary care beds at Alouette Homes in Maple Ridge. This is secure care in action- helping people in crisis and strengthening public safety.

British Columbia is stepping up to address property crime and street disorder. Today, we’re launching the Community Safety & Targeted Enforcement Program (C-STEP) - a $5 million initiative to support police with new tools, tech & strategic partnerships.

Joined Minister Begg to announce $6M for the SITE program to help police crack down on repeat violent offenders. Since May 2023, SITE has supported 129 operations, over 5,400 investigations, and 2,676 charges. We’re investing in real solutions that keep communities safe.

A person has been arrested by the #VPD after driving into the PNE Coliseum tonight shortly after 8:00. There was an event at the venue, but there are no reported injuries. A VPD spokesperson will be at the scene in a media staging area outside the Coliseum at 11:00 p.m.

A number of people have been killed and multiple others are injured after a driver drove into a crowd at a street festival at E. 41st Avenue and Fraser shortly after 8 p.m. tonight. The driver is in custody. We will provide more information as the investigation unfolds.
