so proud 😊
Really excited to share that I got an #ERCCoG from @ERC_Research The project EARLYFATE will explore the interplay between DNA damage responses and the very first events of mammalian development. Huge thanks to all colleagues, former mentors and lab members for their support!
Extremely excited for Barbara. Ver well deserved 🚀🧪🔬👩🔬🚀🧪🚀 Ole ole y ole!!!!

Beautiful!!!!
SOX and POU are crucial Transcription Factors in animal development, believed to be innovations. We found them in unicellular relatives of animals. And hold tight, you can use a choanoflagellate 🦠 SOX gene to make a full chimeric 🐁 ! Read more here: rdcu.be/d0dPN 1/6
Our paper on the role of cell division in early embryonic development is out online! nature.com/articles/s4155… Lot more controls + some additional experiments to assess how changes in cell type proportions are reflected in embryo morphology.
🎉 Excited to share a big part of my PhD work in @KleinLabHMS that took many, many years and my blood, sweat, and tears! 😅 We ask - What’s the role of cell division in the formation of initial cell types during early development ?🧐 biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 🧵 (1/14)
EXCITED to unroll this 🧵 on our new story on the metabolic licensing of animal development... How did we even get here..? shorturl.at/vuCIh Early embryo is thought of a pre-set machine that's set to go once it's fertilized - check out this gorgeous 📽️from Phil Keller!
Congrats and thank u for sharing this Alvaro, I can relate to this, because when I moved to Cologne, you where always there as the scientific pillar. When ever I doubted myself or the place I started the Lab, I found inspiration in your science. U and ur science inspired me 🙏🏿

Today's Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology is built on curiosity-driven research. Victor Ambros wanted to know what sets the developmental clock that determines that particular life-cycle events happen at the right developmental time 1/2
Most of us learned in school about the Central Dogma: DNA->RNA->Proteins. For decades gene regulation was only about protein transcription factors regulating gene expression. Ambros and Rukun used the small nematode worm C. elegans to change that picture 1/2
BREAKING NEWS The 2024 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.
