Second, & even worse, General Security carried out numerous massacres against Druze civilians. Eg Men killed at Tishreen square (includes the US Oklahoma citizen), the engineers & doctors forced to jump from a balcony to their deaths, the elderly man who identified as Syrian-> 3/

The greatest outrage that I have in relation to all the death & destruction in Sweida is for the govt forces. The Bedouins killed Druze civilians intentionally or indiscriminately (eg Sweida, Al Rahha, Tha’ala). The Druze SMC militia did the same (eg Shahba). 1/

But doesn’t explain why there were so many intentional killing of Druze civilians. He ignores Radwan مضافة massacre, Tishreen roundabout massacre & many others - all massacres by govt forces of Druze civilians. 1/

93K of the displaced are *within* Sweida (basically Druze). These are people who towns/villages are near border of Dera’a or Reef Damascus. These towns/villages have been largely destroyed. 50K displaced from Sweida to rural Damascus or Dera’a (mainly Bedouin).

So long as state forces behave like a militia, there will be no stability and therefore no rebuilding, however much foreign investment is promised. Syrians deserve and urgently need better.
