A short 📹 explainer video on how LLMs can overthink in humanlike ways 😲! had a blast presenting this at #icml2025 🥳
How do people reason so flexibly about new problems, bringing to bear globally-relevant knowledge while staying locally-consistent? Can we engineer a system that can synthesize bespoke world models (expressed as probabilistic programs) on-the-fly?

One of the better posters I saw today at #icml25 This gets at the root of the problems we were thinking about when we conceived and wrote the CoT paper.
AI & Society faculty opportunity posted just this month with a start date of Fall 2025 and beyond: ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/57734 ‼️🐂 For "interdisciplinary scholars whose research agenda connects the study of AI with humanistic and/or social scientific line(s) of study"
Are AI scientists already better than human researchers? We recruited 43 PhD students to spend 3 months executing research ideas proposed by an LLM agent vs human experts. Main finding: LLM ideas result in worse projects than human ideas.
roundtable is on the front page of hacker news, currently at #4. help us get it to #1!!
