Mediations on the Northeast mid-major MBB landscape with a dash of national mid-majors. | https://stretchingthefloor.blogspot.com/ |
After stopping by CCSU yesterday, here's my stab at the #NECMBB preseason ranks: 1) LIU ---GAP--- 2) Stonehill 3) CCSU ---GAP--- 4) Le Moyne 5) Chicago State 6) Wagner 7) St. Francis ---GAP--- 8) FDU 9) Mercyhurst ----GAP---- 10) New Haven
My 2025-26 NEC Preseason Standings Prediction. 1. Long Island University 2. Le Moyne 3. Stonehill 4. Central Connecticut 5. Mercyhurst 6. St. Francis (PA) 7. Chicago State 8. Wagner 9. Fairleigh Dickinson 10. New Haven
One player I’m still surprised is available since I was high on his game when Manhattan was in the mix last offseason. Defense, rebounding and shooting makes him a nice 3/4 option. Also wonder if high-majors will look as a high-level “practice player”.
Bethune-Cookman (D1) transfer Kalil Camara is still available in the portal, he told @ThePortalReport. 6'7, 175-pound graduate transfer wing averaged 7.7 PPG and 4 RPG last season.
Got to check out Iona practice today. Here are my takeaways: ionahoops.proboards.com/post/175093/th…

Still on a #NECMBB, but @RedFlashMBB is such an easy team to root for as they enter their last szn of D1 🏀 after winning the NEC Tournament in March. Rob Krimmel is one of the good guys in coaching&they have a bunch of guys on their last year of eligibility to go out w/ a bang.
Watching practice yesterday, I can really see why the @CCSU_MBB staff is excited for Ja'Kobe Williams. At 6'3 190, Williams is an aggressive two-way point guard who is creative with the ball and will have the space to use his creativity to attack the rim w/ CCSU's shooters.
Top 5 impact transfers in the NEC heading into next season. 1. Greg Gordon, UAB➡️LIU 2. Skylar Wicks, UTSA➡️St. Francis (PA) 3. Ametri Moss, North Florida➡️Le Moyne 4. Doyel Cockrill III, Fisk➡️Chicago State 5. Ja'Kobe Williams, Edward Waters➡️Central Connecticut

Following two seasons with results on the opposite ends of the spectrum, the 2025-26 Fairfield Stags are deep and pack more positional size than last year, with aims to improve on D. A deep dive of the new-look roster now up on the blog: stretchingthefloor.blogspot.com/2025/07/a-earl… #MAACHoops

“His energy is contagious. He takes over the gym. He doesn’t look like a freshman.” Kevair Kennedy is a winner. He’s done it his entire life. At Merrimack, likely becoming the starting point guard, Kennedy’s potential is limitless. New: eagletribune.com/sports/better-…
Over the last dozen years or so, UC Irvine has consistently been one of the most under-heralded mid-majors in the nation. Since the 2012-13 season: 🔵 3 NCAA Tourney selections 🟡 5 NIT Tourney selections 🔵 2 CIT Tourney selections 🟡 Finished every season Top-150 in KenPom
A brand new non-conference challenge is set to debut in the 2026-27 season. @Sam_Federman has what coaches and the commissioners had to say about the America East-MAAC Basketball Challenge. sbnation.com/e/24237939
In celebration of the great work, Sam and Greg put into this preview, here’s my #MAACHoops preseason ranks as of today: 1) Siena 2) SHU 3) QU 4) Manhattan 5) Marist 6) Iona 7) Merrimack 8) Fairfield 9) SPU 10 Canisius 11) Mount 12) Rider 13) Niagara
Today on Coast To Coast Hoops I preview the #MAAC, looking at the conference's betting trends & styles of play, look at all 13 rosters with @Sam_Federman, & I give my projected order of conference finish for each MAAC team! …-basketball-betting-po.simplecast.com/episodes/2025-…
Love this! If the matchups prioritize the top-end of each conference, this could set up some fantastic opportunities in non-conference play.

Liberty's Josh Smith is now CONFIRMED returning to Liberty after his eligibility was in question after missing last season. Smith has yet to suit up for the Flames, but the 6'9 225 grad transfer brings three-level efficiency and rebounding to Liberty's frontcourt.

#NECMBB fans have known Jordan Jones’ impact for two years now and while the TBT is fun for us 🏀 fans, it can also be a resume booster for recent grads like Jones as they start off their professional career. I’ll be tuning in tonight as this is the most exciting SOS group yet.
Keep an eye on Jordan Jones, he’s the real deal. Great basketball player and an incredible young man. @thetournament @starsofstorrs @CCSU_MBB
Here's a nice scout on Rykan Woo, Brown's 2nd commit of the '26 class, who was also offered by fellow #IvyHoops rivals Yale and Dartmouth, as well as Montana State, UC Davis and Le Moyne.
