Just a kid from Derry.
BREAKING: The St. Louis Cardinals select Liam Doyle at No. 5 in the 2025 MLB Draft. The 6-foot-2 southpaw, who now becomes the highest drafted player in Eagle-Tribune area history, rose up the ranks this year at Tennessee. The Derry, N.H native and Pinkerton alum has done it.

One year ago today… Somerville will be playing at Florida State in the 2025-26 season, after a historic frosh campaign at UMass Lowell. @jhimartin
This is a massive pickup for the River Hawks, which should close out the roster for the 2024-25 season. Per @247Sports, Somerville had a whopping 18 offers from schools all over the country. In terms of offers, this is the highest-profile recruit in UMass Lowell history.
“His energy is contagious. He takes over the gym. He doesn’t look like a freshman.” Kevair Kennedy is a winner. He’s done it his entire life. At Merrimack, likely becoming the starting point guard, Kennedy’s potential is limitless. New: eagletribune.com/sports/better-…
“My goal is to one day help this team get to the NCAA tournament.” Merrimack coach Joe Gallo was rumored to be a top candidate for open positions all over the country. But for Gallo, who has been at Merrimack as a player and coach for over 20 years, this is where he calls home.
“Even though we all just met, we feel like a family here.” I caught up with Merrimack frosh Kevair Kennedy, a guard from Philadelphia. The 6-foot-0 playmaker strives to follow in the footsteps of former Warrior guard Budd Clark, also from Philly. @KevairKennedy @JoeyGall0
Mailbox: The America East and MAAC announce a men’s and women’s basketball challenge, beginning in early 2026.

Found myself back looking at this once again… UMass Lowell has to be up there for the most player name suffixes in the country

Andover’s Ryan Jaillet went viral on Tuesday for a one-handed home run catch atop the Green Monster. It was a graduation present for him and his twin. In today’s Eagle-Tribune, I dove into the moment for Jaillet, who will play collegiately at Bowdoin: eagletribune.com/sports/what-a-…
Andover’s Ryan Jaillet with the nice snag!
This is absolutely absurd
Former Central Catholic star @camdevanney is going to The Bigs! The Kansas City Royals called him up today. Huge news. FYI: Sox host Royals Aug. 4-6.
Just a reminder — this is UMass Lowell’s official roster for the 2025-26 season. I’ve seen Zyree Collins as a name that other outlets have on the River Hawk roster. He’s playing at Austin Peay, and as far as I’m aware, wasn’t offered by the UML staff.

Harris, a Haverhill native, is coming home. With Methuen’s Georges Niang on the Celtics, there’s two locals from the Merrimack Valley area now playing on their respective Boston professional sports teams.
Hearing Jordan Harris, who was not qualified in Columbus, is headed to Boston. Played his college hockey at Northeastern
