Runs @These_Islands. “cannot stand the awesome reality of Scotland’s energy wealth” - Alex Salmond. Tweeting in a personal capacity.
Stationary wind turbines which (when they do spin) produce electricity at a cost of £163/MWh (double the current wholesale price). A perfect encapsulation of the utter vacuity of SNP rhetoric on energy. Imagine if these costs could not be defrayed across all GB bill payers…
The cost of electricity produced by this wind farm is £163/MWh - roughly double the current wholesale price, and far more expensive than nuclear…
Exciting privilege to inaugurate one of our offshore wind projects - Neart na Gaoithe - off the coast of Fife and serviced from Eyemouth. It is an amazing feat of engineering and an example of Scotland’s bright energy future.
John Swinney’s big independence relaunch includes this blatant falsehood. Government capital spending in London and the South East was £1,712 per person in 2023/24. In Scotland it was £1,789 per person.
TLDR: (1.) Bang on about independence (2.) Demand a referendum (3.) Vote SNP New plan for independence: same as the old plan for independence

Richard Murphy phones @BBCRadioScot to complain that its journalists don’t read his column in @ScotNational
Shona Robison refused an invitation to explain her push for full fiscal autonomy before the House of Commons Scottish Affairs Committee. Given her flailing performances giving evidence to Holyrood committees, probably a wise decision. Albeit a pathetic one.
The wholesale cost of electricity in the current Ofgem price cap is £85/MWh The cost of electricity produced by the Beatrice wind farm, off the coast of @MareeToddMSP’s own constituency, is £199/MWh Does she really want her constituents to be fully exposed to those costs?
The Westminster government has total control of energy. We need to feel the benefit of all the green energy we’re producing. If not zonal pricing - what?
