Looking at my past #Perseid meteor pictures and observations in anticipation of this year's display. Here's one from 12 August 2022 at 23:38 UT. In my notes it says "Perseid in Andromeda. Magnitude -3, white, green and pink in colour. Fast speed with a long trail." #Perseids

With the Sun showing reasonably strong activity in 2025 will we be treated to an aurora show during the peak of the #Perseids meteor shower? This happened last year, so there's always a chance it could happen again. Here's a shot I got last year of the aurora and a #Perseid.

The current radiant of the #PerseidsMeteorShower lies between the 'W' of Cassiopeia and M31 - the Andromeda Galaxy. It moves towards Perseus into August. The peak is on the night of 12-13 August. Rates of #Perseids will also be high on 11-12 and 13-14 August. #Astronomy

Tonight and the next two weeks offer a good opportunity to see early #Perseid meteors. During this time the Moon is out of the way, resulting in darker skies for meteor spotting. Observe after midnight for the best chance to see some #Perseids. #Astronomy #PerseidsMeteorShower

The source of the #Perseids meteor shower is comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle and the shower has been observed for nearly 2,000 years. Meteors from this stream hit our atmosphere at 59km/s, which is quite swift compared to other showers. #Astronomy #PerseidsMeteorShower

There could be a display of #NoctilucentClouds seen from the UK this evening into tomorrow morning, assuming there are any clear skies! I certainly don't - been raining heavily all evening. Anyway, worth a look if you have better weather. #Noctilucent #NoctilucentCloud
