Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 13 Taking a break from combat to add some other systems to the game. This is a safe room where you can refill your health and ammo. The items are fun to spin around.
Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Days 8 and 9 Your gun has ammo now, but don't worry- you can fill it back up by slapping enemies. It's a fun system when fighting more difficult enemies, I'll show them soon. Also gave the backgrounds and UI a fresh coat of paint!
Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 14 Today I added an outfit system. I had to make a bunny costume to test taller player sprites, I had no choice. Anyway, it will be in the game somewhere alongside a lot of other outfits.
Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 12 Here is some footage of me playing very badly like it's a mobile game ad. I was worried there wasn't enough feedback when you got hit, so I've taken care of that. Now it feels good to get hit, but you should still avoid it.
Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 11 Made some new imps to shoot with your gun. Still figuring out what to do with the ammo system. I made it so "parrying" projectiles gives you ammo back.

Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 10 Slowly making all the systems to make combat feel great. The blend of top down shooter and Zelda is really paying off, I can't wait for people to play this. Also added doors!

Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 7 Making some goomba-type enemies. They can drop money and health. Next week I will work on some more threatening enemies and try to cement what the combat feels like. Might slow down my updates a bit until I have a few ready!
Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Days 5 and 6 Making some test areas to try and figure out the visual identity of the game. Going for a gothic mansion vibe. Using modified versions of tilesets from @zaebucca , they look great and will save many many hours of work.
Slightly less exciting news- I have updated everyone's favourite plugin Actors Pass Through Actors to support GB Studio 4.1.2. Hooray!
I have added a sample GB Studio plugin 🔌🎮to my website that allows actors to pass through other actors such as the player, useful for making enemies that run into you! 🔗Link in replies! Next I want to publish a prettier dialogue box plugin...
Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 4 Experimenting with placeholder enemies. Since I am handling most of the player logic in the engine, it looks like I can have 5-6 simple enemies without major slowdown. Also yes I am bad at my own game. I need a dpad...
Adding #sauce to my #GBStudio game every day- Day 3 Now we have 8 directional moving, shooting, strafing and a dodge move. Pretty good mechanics for a Game Boy game! The character sprite is inspired by the very charmingly jank PS2 game THE Maid Uniform & Machine Gun.
