This is a WILD take that I kinda love - Scottie has been punting the U.S. Open until he had the other three majors so he could make his national open the final leg of his career Grand Slam.
He’s a historic player - he wants to win the grand slam at home at the US Open. He threw pinehurst because he hadn’t won the Open yet. Weather on Sunday at Troon was too much to come back from, so he had to throw the US Open again at Oakmont this year. Grand Slam at Shinnecock.
Looking at future U.S. Open venues for Scottie to complete the career Grand Slam: 2026: Shinnecock Hills '27: Pebble '28: Winged Foot '29: Pinehurst #2 '30: Merion
Scottie Scheffler has had a lot of ridiculous and impressive wins - @pmcdonaldCBS and I ranked the five best victories of his career on the latest @GolfonCBS show youtube.com/watch?v=K3rfpJ…
This was an actual tee box at a USGA Men’s Mid-am qualifier yesterday. There were two tee boxes like this. And yes, this is real. Looks like @ClubProGuy setup the course! 😀 How you feeling if you show up to your mid-am qualifier and see this? 😂
We recap the week that was with Scottie at the Open + a lot more including Scottie’s five most impressive wins, winners and disappointments + random Open observations. youtube.com/live/wHV8xTdt5…
And 4*
A reminder that when Scottie Scheffler wins, he wins by a lot ... a look at his winning margins worldwide starting at the '22 Masters (* for a major): 3* 2 5 3 5 1 4* 3 1 Playoff 4 1 6 8 5* 4
Scottie's only rivals: -A Louisville cop -Wine glasses
I’ve seen Bennett Scheffler more than I’ve seen a lot of my own close family members this year
Scottie Scheffler not even being in contention in the Barracuda this afternoon is an indictment on his career.
Harris English playing the Ernie role to Scottie's Tiger run is something I didn't have in the models.
A fun wrinkle to the Grand Slam discourse next year at Shinnecock Hills? U.S. Open Sunday, June 21st, is also Scottie Scheffler's 30th birthday.
This win for Scottie puts him north of $90 million in career earnings - he's already third all-time in money made (behind Tiger and Rory) and he's played just six full seasons on the PGA Tour.
Going to try something different today - @pmcdonaldCBS and I are going LIVE after the final round to recap the Open. Top-5 Scottie performances ever, winners that didn't win, biggest disappointments + plenty more. Around 3:30 PM ET @GolfonCBS youtube.com/watch?v=wHV8xT…
Only at The Open: There are fans just walking down the middle of fairways, tees, and greens taking pictures on the holes that the final group has passed through already.
Question I've been discussing with a couple of buddies ... what Sunday singles matchup would you prefer at the Ryder Cup?
I need this guy to win by 10 shots ... that is the goal. Double digits.
It's strange, I don't remember Tiger's bag getting this much media attention when he added Monster Energy.
We've entered the gritty TW "Finish the race" phase, which rules.
Scottie is gaining more than EIGHT SHOTS with the putter this week. This is like if mid-career Tom Brady added a sub-4.3 40-speed.
This Bryson performance from Friday on feels very similar to the Rory 64 in the final round of the '22 Masters ... not a lot of positive vibes for DeChambeau at the Open and now he has a recipe for links golf success moving forward. A really great week for the big man.
