We got this
It's official! @SeanOrr is on the ballot April 5th. “I can’t wait to be at City Council to be a thorn in Ken Sim’s side every day – fighting for the housing we need, demanding real climate action like better public transit, & working to restore integrity to City Hall.” #vanpoli
Yesterday Ken Sim 1) killed needed support for the Arts in Vancouver 2) voted to ignore Black and Indigenous kids by stopping a review of cops in schools 3) refused to extend the life of modular housing, putting 600 people at risk of homelessness. We need to evict these guys
JUST IN: Ken Sim and ABC just voted down a motion to call for an independent review of the cops-in-schools program. This motion was moved by Pete Fry based on the advocacy of the City’s own Racial and Ethno-Cultural Equity Advisory Committee. #vanpoli
ABC just voted down modular housing for people at risk of homelessness - AGAIN. Thanks to @seanorr for bringing today's motion to City Council. As thousands seek a place to lay their heads every night, @Vote4ABC has shown us where they stand once more.
Today at City Hall: Councillor @christineeboyle's motion to protect Temporary Modular Housing (TMH) was voted down by the @Vote4ABC mayor and councillors. Rejecting Cllr. Boyle's motion will lead to more people sleeping in tents on public parks and streets. #vanpoli #bcpoli
“I think this is an amendment that you’d make if you wanted to avoid supporting the arts in any meaningful way." @SeanOrr createastir.ca/articles/vanco… #vanpoli
Imagine if Vancouver fully supported the arts. This afternoon - before ABC amended the motion almost beyond recognition - @SeanOrr spoke passionately in support of a great motion from Councillor Pete Fry based on proposals from the City's Arts & Culture Advisory Committee.
Absolutely gutted that council decided to strike and replace this well thought out motion.
Hi @sarahkirby_yung, Can you please clear the air on why you felt the need to kill the resolutions put forward by the Arts & Culture Advisory Committee supported by @seanorr, @PtFry, etc at Council? #VanPoli instagram.com/reel/DMeBpJDS_…
I spoke today in support of a 3rd party review for the School Liaison Officer Program in schools that centres on Black and Indigenous voices. Sadly it did not pass. We must do better! Grateful for @PtFry @seanorr @Lucyincanada #vanpoli #bced
Thanks @Lucyincanada @seanorr for showing up as an ally. Thanks of course to @PtFry for bringing this motion forward. Disappointed in @Vote4ABC and @rebeccaleebligh sadly not surprised. It’s a real shame they didn’t see the need to centre 2 equity deserving communities #vanpoli

Councillor @SeanOrr has 3 motions on today's City Hall agenda: - Closing loopholes to protect tenants - Extending leases to save modular homes - Finding new ways to raise City revenue from those most able to pay to fund the services we need Read more: votecope.ca/news/orr-repor…

Well said Pete
Vancouver was well served by City Manager Paul Mochrie, a skilled, thoughtful professional. I wish him the best. I've no insight or agreement on Sim and Mochrie conversation that "mutually agreed that it was the right time for a leadership change" but it's a big loss for CofV.
The SRA by-law conversion fees exist to get badly needed deeply affordable housing replaced. If the city makes a policy of waiving these fees to protect investors who purchase these properties knowing the SRA status of the units, they're encouraging speculation.
“Overall the economic theories that Ken Sim shares in these videos are pretty out there and outside the economic consensus,” Orr said.
‘The mayor is talking about economics and doesn’t seem to understand what he’s talking about.’ #vanpoli thetyee.ca/News/2025/07/2…
We can’t afford this extreme austerity. The poorest will be most affected as always.
"After record property tax hikes, in large part for increases to the VPD budget, ABC knows it’s heading into an election year and is looking to run on classic fiscally conservative rhetoric. We need to turn this whole discussion on its head." @SeanOrr votecope.ca/news/orr-repor…
Next week City Councillor @SeanOrr is going for a hat trick, with three important motions up for debate. Read all about it, and everything else going on at City Hall this month, in the latest edition of The Orr Report: votecope.ca/news/orr-repor… #FightForVancouver #vanpoli
"Councillor Sean Orr is presenting a motion requesting staff to suggest a zoning by-law amendment that would extend the leases on modular supportive housing sites from the current 5-year limit to the life of the building, which is 30-40 years." carnegiehousingproject.substack.com/p/what-you-can… #vanpoli
Great idea
Former residents of CRAB Park & other encampments are going mobile w/ a "Cooling Bus" to beat the heat. The Cooling Bus is a grassroots initiative led by “peers” – community experts deeply connected to the DTES. The team is “taking it to the streets” on Mon, Weds and Fridays 🚌
Very troubling
1/ Neo-Nazis are holding an event in Vancouver on July 26. The location is undisclosed & could include the Vancouver area. If your venue booked Exiles of the Golden Age, you have booked a neo-Nazi gathering.
When will Ken Sim apologize for attacking Sean Orr for defending human rights and international law? #vanpoli
The New York Times has just published an op-ed by an Israeli genocide scholar who agrees with all the other genocide scholars and human rights organizations who say Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The debate is over. The Israel apologists lost.
How do you look at data showing over 2,000 lives saved and still want to shut sites down? We need more public health solutions, not moral panic. And if there was access to safe supply, you’d see even fewer deaths, fewer street deals and fewer headlines blaming the wrong thing.

Happy to support this
Today, Vancouver finally set to approve bylaw for 30km/h limit on local residential streets. Six years since this resolution passed at Council/UBCM; again unanimously in 2024; building on work of local/global #VisionZero active transportation advocates Slow, safe, stoked. 😀
