Take a moment to read the last Facebook post of the Mayor of North Ogden Brent Taylor who was killed in Afghanistan while serving with the Utah National Guard and vote
FB post from Utah Lt Gov @SpencerJCox includes last post from North Ogden Mayor Brent Taylor, who was KIA in Afghanistan:
NJ is more promising for Repubs this year than Va, where the gov candidate until recently had a pastor running her campaign, has yet to win Trump’s endorsement & has notably less cash than the GOP AG nominee Can Va Dems sweep, a la 2017? My latest: politico.com/news/magazine/…
DMAS did not say how many Virginians are at risk of losing Medicaid coverage under President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. They did acknowledge that hospitals stand to lose billions, but said a lot of the bill’s impacts are still to be determined.
Democrats have warned that President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill will lead to over 300,000 Virginians losing Medicaid coverage. @GovernorVA has called that number "made up." Next week, we'll likely get more clarity when DMAS briefs lawmakers on the bill's effects on Medicaid.
Trump’s major policy and budget bill, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” passed by Congress on July 3, is supported by 41%, with 59% opposing it. A substantial majority of Republicans support the law while most independents and Democrats oppose it. #mulawpoll
New Marquette Law School Poll national survey finds President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating stands at 45%, with 55% disapproval. In May, approval was 46% and disapproval was 54%. #mulawpoll
I actually want more elections in Virginia
Are you tired of voting every single year??? Today, a Joint Subcommittee is meeting to study the idea of consolidating Virginia’s elections by eliminating off-year elections. More tonight on @8NEWS.
Per yesterday's meeting of the Joint Subcommittee to Study the Consolidation and Scheduling of General Elections, Consolidating VA elections would be a long, complicated, tortuous process... bluevirginia.us/2025/07/wednes…
Sincerely hope my colleagues in national political news do not think that the departure of Elon Musk from the spotlight (and from campaign fundraising) means that DOGE is "over" or not a factor in the Virginia elections this year.
Brutal quote from House Republican Leader Terry Kilgore: “‘He’s going to lead the ticket,’ Kilgore said of Miyares, adding that ‘this is gearing up to be a 2001-type year.’” @jmart politico.com/news/magazine/…
Normally these panic pieces are about Dems But we see it about the GOP in Virginia Common theme is doubts about Governor race and hope AG race can be salvaged GOP putting hopes in incumbent Jason Miyares But since 2009, AG has typically only run ahead of top of ticket by ~2%
Republicans Are Panicking Over the Virginia Governor’s Race - POLITICO politico.com/news/magazine/…
New: The CFO of Virginia's Medicaid agency said the cuts could cause “a macroeconomic financial shock" - an estimate Youngkin’s office and his own agency pushed back on. vpm.org/news/2025-07-2…
The Wick Virginia poll had an interesting data point that explains GOP concerns It identified about 4% of sample as Youngkin/Harris That is those who voted for Youngkin in 2021, but Harris in 2024 Of those, Spanberger is up 72%-17% GOP not getting same traction like in 2021
NEW from me in @thehill —-> Republicans are voicing concern about Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears’ standing in the state’s governors against Democrat Abigail Spanberger. One Republican called the race “a disaster” for the GOP #vapol #vagov thehill.com/homenews/campa…

My hot take on this Wick Virginia poll - Similar to VCU poll released last week and confirms GOP in trouble w Spanberger at 50% - Little ticket splitting between Governor and AG meaning Miyares also in trouble - Trump at least -10 approval in Virginia which is hard to overcome
Good catch here there was a Wick Virginia poll a couple weeks ago Governor Spanberger (D) 50% Earle-Ears (R) 40% AG Jones (D) 48% Miyares (R) 41% Trump Approval Disapprove 55% Approve 44% Potential 2026 Abortion rights Referendum Support 57% Oppose 32%
I always say that there aren't enough elections in Virginia.
Good morning #valeg - a joint committee is discussing Virginia’s odd election schedules. Well here why we vote every year, what they’d have to do to change it, and how long that would take… stay tuned.
Katrina in 2005 as well.
This Epstein stuff in the House may be the "Virginia August surprise;" 2017's was Charlottesville, 2021's was Afghanistan. Shutting down the House for a whole month? I don't imagine that's gonna help Republicans this year, dude.
