White Christians who attend church weekly voted overwhelmingly for Trump in 2024 β at even higher rates than in 2016 or 2020. Among non-white weekly+ attenders, support for Trump also reached a new high: 51%. Religious attendance is still a huge political sorting mechanism.

Even among NEVER attenders, there are clear partisan divides in how important religion is: 70% of Democrats say religion is not at all important Just 38% of Republicans say the same

One graph, two conclusions. 1. The share of folks who were born 2000-2006 who say they are very religious is the lowest ever. Revival is not happening! 2. The share who are 'not religious at all' is actually the same as folks born in the 1980s. Revival is coming!

The Assemblies of God is the only large denomination in the United States that has experienced sustained growth since 2000. (COVID aside, of course)

Home schooled kids really are more religious than other young people. 34% of them report weekly attendance. But 26% also say they never attend. Kids who went to public school are the least religiously active.

Among people born in the 1940s, the people who are the most likely to be weekly church attenders are those with a high school diploma. That's not true for any successive birth cohort. In fact, in many of them, the most religiously active are those with graduate degrees.

This is the only tangible thing on our old church property that still bears our name. I reflect on the closure of First Baptist Church, a year later. πππ

Americans today are much more liberal than they were in the 1970s. But support for two major issues has dipped slightly since 2022: β’ Marijuana legalization: 76% β 69% β’ Gay marriage: 76% β 73%

I've written about this multiple times. The median Black Protestant is NOT a liberal Democrat. In fact, 60% of all Black Protestants self-ID as moderate or conservative Democrats.
One of the most pernicious beliefs on the American right is the idea that African Americans are responsible for extreme leftist politics. Thereβs a reason southern cities arenβt like Portland Oregon, and itβs not the transplanted white people.
