Mainstream politics in the West is in freefall. In 2000, it won 75% of votes. Today? Just 50%. Meanwhile, populist right-wing parties keep rising. We asked 12,000 voters across 🇬🇧🇫🇷🇩🇪🇺🇸🇨🇦🇦🇺 why—and how to fix it. Enter: Disruptive Delivery🔥

We have the tools to track government spending in realtime rather than the bonkers process of a fraught review every few years. This means spending taxpayers’ money on what works and stopping spending on what doesn't. Let’s do it 💪

Turns out those of us investing in a pension fund want more of it invested in British equity too. Let’s do it (and merge smaller funds into mega funds - like Canada - while we’re at it) 🚀

The one thing baked into voting behaviour now is volatility. That’s a big challenge for mainstream parties but a huge opportunity too - if they can deliver in a way voters feel.
It's about tangible delivery. But will voters notice? @ryan_wain says focus groups have shifted: “It’s gone beyond people switching from Labour to Reform out of mere protest. They now say they’re actively looking forward to a Reform government that would guarantee change.”
⚠️Some voters now believe Reform is the only route to real change ⚠️ That’s what I heard in focus groups, and I’ve shared my insight with @danbloom1 @POLITICOEurope The window is not shut for govt if they can arrest decline & deliver change voters feel. politico.eu/article/nigel-…
“It takes four minutes to die from a stab wound / I hope this letter finds you in time.” Power, punch-in-the-gut poetry from Joseph Roberts. He is clearly blessed with talent and brilliant he’s using it to shape a better future for Merseyside.
By resetting our relationships across Europe, my government has made new levels of co-operation possible. For the first time, migrants arriving via small boat will be detained and returned to France — smashing the business model of people smuggling gangs.
President Macron, Sir Alex Younger, @InstituteGC all absolutely right to be calling for a digital id. It’s a no brainer - both to tackle illegal migration and upgrade the state. Here’s what I wrote in the @Independent a while back. We can’t afford not to have one.
“It's absolutely obvious to me that people should have a digital identity... Let's stop shouting at the French. A lot of this is on us.” Ex-MI6 boss, Sir Alex Younger, backs calls for digital ID cards and adds that they could help deter small boat crossings. #Newsnight
The weird shadow of the mid-2000s debate on ID cards never ceases to amaze. With the need for reliable digital identification and the need to clamp down on the informal labour market, the case has never been stronger.

This is not sustainable. OBR report today makes for eye-watering reading. We are stuck in a doom loop of low growth, low productivity, high debt and high taxes. There is only one conclusion: we have to fundamentally reimagine government.

Progressive politics around the world treats focus groups like a strategy when they’re just a starting point. Knowing people feel decline isn’t enough - you need ideas about renewal. I worry we’re falling into the trap of mistaking market research for political vision & ideas.
PM is right: the NHS app should be the front door to healthcare in Britain. It can be the tactical tail that wags the strategic, nhs-shaped dog, forcing innovation into the system as patients exercise their choice. We @InstituteGC argue it should be No10 led. This is promising.

Really glad to see the NHS app at the centre of govt plans for future healthcare as we @InstituteGC have long made the case for. It’s smart policy and politics - delivery that will be ‘felt’ by voters 👏👏
NHS app could be perfect example of 'disruptive delivery' - delivery felt by voters. Half of Brits have it in their pockets already. Only a third use it. Make it central to NHS: a new front door to healthcare in Britain, delivered by Labour. Polling shows people want 'MyNHS' 👇
