Nathan Anderson
@rementurus
Assistant Professor of Psychology at BYU. fMRI, memory, and mental imagery.
This fall, I'll be starting as an assistant professor at Brigham Young University @BYU in Psychology @BYU_Psychology. My lab will study memory and mental imagery and the brain networks that support them. I'm excited to engage with BYU students and collaborate with new colleagues!
Excited to share my most recent work with @SalvoJoe and @RodBraga on the transmodal language network, defined using functional connectivity and multiple different tasks. Take a look!
🔈 New preprint! 🔈 Intrinsic functional connectivity delineates transmodal language functions
Happy to announce that our paper is now published in Science Advances! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Some clarifications below about what is and isn’t new about this work:
NEW PREPRINT! 🚨 Social cognitive regions of human association cortex are selectively connected to the amygdala biorxiv.org/content/10.110… We studied two parallel distributed networks within the canonical default network (DN) in individuals using 7T fMRI.
I enjoyed recruiting participants, collecting data, and defining individualized networks for our intracranial projects - check out Nate’s work on Monday, not Wednesday!
For those in Chicago for @SfNtweets, welcome! Come check out our poster (Wed 1-5pm; I'm there at 4!). We recorded iEEG during a mental imagery task, with rsfc-MRI networks in the same patients. Come learn about changes in temporal dynamics across different functional networks!
And by Wednesday, I of course mean Monday. Thanks @aniaholubecki for the catch!

We are hiring an Associate or Full Professor-level tenure-track faculty with a background in neuroimaging (MRI/PET) in aging and dementia. Come join the exciting research happening at @NUFeinbergMed @NUMesulamCenter in downtown Chicago! Please RT and help spread the word 🧠
I really enjoyed working on this case study - check it out!
Our case study was just published, featuring language and reading deficits in the cerebellum! authors.elsevier.com/c/1jRhp2VHYC4av

Very cool new preprint from our lab by the amazing @judy_yhkwon!
New (and first!) preprint from the Braga Lab! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… @judy_yhkwon investigated the parietal memory network (PMN) in densely sampled participants using high-res 7T fMRI. We saw smaller regions of the PMN that are inconsistently reported, esp. in group maps.
Nathan Anderson (@rementurus), a postdoc in our lab, was able to dissociate mental imagery of visual and auditory stimuli, and these activations aligned with relevant distributed functional networks. (Sunday 7/23 12:15pm-2:15pm) Monday 7/24 1-3pm Poster 0091 #OHBM2023 (2/n)
The Braga Lab is at #OHBM2023! This is my first time at @OHBM and I’m grateful to have the chance to learn from other neuroscientists before starting my own graduate training! Check out four posters from @RodBraga’s trainees, spread out across both poster groups: (1/n)
We are looking for a new Research Coordinator to join the Braga Lab and assist with experiments using precision fMRI to study brain organization within individuals. Apply at link below or DM for more details! 🧠 careers.northwestern.edu/psp/hr857prd_e…
Happy to announce that the Braga Lab is at #CNS2023 @CogNeuroNews this week, presenting 4 posters (summarized below): Come by and say hello 👋
We're searching for a Research Coordinator to help us @NUFeinbergMed with fMRI and intracranial EEG experiments studying brain networks, language, memory and mental imagery. Come join our team! glassdoor.com/job-listing/re… 🧠🧠🧠
Hey, want to hear something cool? Jeff Zacks and I are jointly recruiting a postdoc. This is truly a unique and cool position bridging two neighboring labs equally obsessed with event memory, narratives, and cognitive aging. Get in touch! Retweets greatly appreciated :)
Why spend 4 minutes doing something in Excel when you can do it in R in 4 hours?
