I've been reading and rereading this one before sleep for some two weeks now. It's small but full of useful practical advice, ~90 pages in 13 chapters. A kind of "Asceticism 101" booklet. I highly recommend it, even if you are not a Buddhist. The PDF is free online.
There's a small Buddhist monastery made up of various Europeans in the mountain forests of Slovenia—Samanadipa Forest Monastery. They also have great YT channels: HillsideHermitage and SamanadipaHermitage, both of which I highly recommend.
