The Last Irish Missionaries: Ep 1 tonight 9.35pm RTÉ One (with Part 2 on the Player immediately after) Really worth watching, and great to be a part of. We met many brave, selfless & thoroughly decent people. With a superb team behind the camera. #LastIrishMissionaries

In 1970, prior to heading to Asia (Vietnam) for two years as a TIME-Life photojournalist I spent a few days inDublin, apparently near the O"Connell tower, I photographed these young lads... 55 years ago...WHO are they? Where are they? Would love to share a beer with them now!
Such a shame
Málaga’s La Rosaleda won’t be a stadium for the 2030 World Cup after all, it has just been announced by the city’s mayor. The ultimate humiliation for the people in charge of this city. It has been coming for a while, as they never really wanted it in the first place.

Yesterday, I was invited to the Oval Office for a final visit with President Biden during his presidency. I was honored that he asked me to sign for him a copy of my book on James Hoban, the Irish born architect of the White House selected by George Washington.
On what would have been John Hume’s 88th birthday, this is ace director/producer Gerry Hoban’s documentary that helped win the incomparable Hume Ireland’s Greatest title in a public vote. Top career moment for me. Here’s the John Hume doc xxx vimeo.com/37595807
Today we remember John Hume on what would have been his 88th birthday. It is vital to remember, today of all days, that difference is of the essence of humanity, and therefore respect for difference is the first and deepest principle of real peace.
On this day in 1979, Blondie released the single “Heart of Glass” from their third studio album “Parallel Lines” “Once I had a love and it was a gas…soon turned out to be a pain in the ass.”
