Announcing Toronto's newest safe drug use site: "Metropolitan United Church's front lawn". A tragic reality because of Ontario's Conservative government. You might not care - until it's someone in your family. cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke to the Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister. She spoke of the need for "Hamas to release all hostages". @AnitaAnandMP

Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs outlined the position of Canada to the Israeli Foreign Minister - "Canada is committed to a two-state solution where Palestinians and Israelis can live peacefully side by side" @AnitaAnandMP

Ontario ranks the lowest in Canada when it comes to per capita hospital spending. We'd need $4.4 billion more to catch up to the rest of Canada. We need more home care, rehabilitation, LTC and primary care. Ontario can't squeeze hospitals more. oha.com/Bulletins/FINA…

Patients ask "when will I get a hospital bed and out of ER" and I politely explain I have no idea. That's because Ontario has learned to do with less. "The current situation is not sustainable" said the Ontario Hospital Association. I agree. By @egpayne ottawacitizen.com/news/ontario-h…

South Sudan's emergency hardly competes against the trashy daily news but is where MSF hired the most local staff (3507) in 2024. It's MSF's 2nd largest expenditure. 17 projects dot the nation due to war, displacement, floods and outbreaks @MSF msf.org/sites/default/…

The largest humanitarian expenditure of MSF in 2024 was DRC. An immense scale of activity in North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri with 4 million people displaced. A forgotten emergency for much of the world powers. @MSF msf.org/sites/default/…

Everywhere in Ontario is now a place to use drugs and everyone is now a potential first responder to an overdose in order to save a life. That's Ontario decision - this is the way they want it. It's reckless policy discounting vulnerable human lives. cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

There's no question Canadians drink too much. The snazzy ads and reckless policies in Ontario don't show the cirrhotic patient whose abdomen is massively distended needing draining every 2 weeks along with many other complicaitons - by @jennlagrassa cbc.ca/news/health/li…

Rising numbers of patients leaving ER in BC without being seen is a serious concern. 2018-2019: 76,157 2024-2025: 141,961 There are few things that matter more than attending to people with a medical emergency. We need a national reckoning of this fact. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

Dear Toronto: everyday I work with the homeless, I read their charts, I know their stories. The vast majority are harmless. If a shelter in your neighbourhood makes want to you poke your eyes out - maybe you chose the wrong city. Toronto is Canada's largest city.

Ontario's Premier Ford has made some terrible choices especially in health and social policy - but I'm impressed by what appears to be his sincere and fiery patriotism of this great nation. It was classy he hosted the Prime Minister overnight. @fordnation @robertbenzie

Build the shelters Toronto. Forget the NIMBY's - they'll never change. We don't have space in the ER - it's not worth calling Central Intake. @MayorOliviaChow @BravoDavenport @PaulaFletcher @CllrJamaalMyers @gordperks @JoshMatlow @DianneSaxe @CllrAmberMorley @rchernoslin…

Canadian Prime Minister Carney condemn's the Israeli government humanitarian failure and states denial of aid is violation of international law. Mr. Carney calls for a ceasefire, Hamas to release hostages and Israel to respect territorial integrity.
Canada condemns the Israeli government’s failure to prevent the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Israel’s control of aid distribution must be replaced by comprehensive provision of humanitarian assistance led by international organizations. Many of these are…
I took a careful look at my ER patients and the bedside presentation almost 100% drives work-ups - and not the past medical history. To date, I diligently examined the PMHx - but the honest truth is - it doesn't drive work-ups. Bedside does. @emupdates @EMCases @emrap_tweets
"Homeless shelters: welcome to my Ward" are words you'll not hear from probably any Toronto City Councilor despite many caring for the vulnerable. But we need them. That's why it's better out of politics and administrative. Consulting is fine, but not the final say.
