Cracking.
Some of you know I’ve been thinking a lot about happiness recently. Here’s my latest for The Keller Center: thegospelcoalition.org/article/where-… @TGC
This struck me afresh this morning. Right before David sins against God (cf. 2 Sam. 12:9; Ps. 51:4) through sexual sin, he is reminded that Bathsheba is someone's daughter and someone's wife.
“And so the church of God lives in a world that is at the same time a place of great felt danger and a place of unbreakable real security.” Ash, The Psalms: A Christ-Centred Commentary, p. 576
Wonderful. (Hamilton quoted in Christopher Ash ‘The Psalms: A Christ-Centred Commentary’, p. 557)

“The day that is coming is a day without end. All those days we know now will be present together, and that is why they will satisfy us… there is but a single day that stands, and does not slip away; and that is eternity.” — Augustine
Three really excellent letters in today's Times on the unworkability of the Terminally Ill Adults Bill. Increasingly the professionals who'll be responsible for administering it are speaking out against it. It would be reckless for MPs to vote in favour of it.
Carla Lockhart MP (@carlalockhart) speaks to the particular danger the assisted suicide Bill poses to the Down’s syndrome community and calls it unsafe. It cannot be fixed. It is weaker than before the committee began.
What a treat to chat to Ed & Amy on the @faithinkids podcast about parenting on the precipice: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/fai…
“Say to my soul, ‘I am your salvation.’” Ps35:3. It’s wonderful when God says things to your soul, when you realise that you’re not simply reading a Bible passage, like reading any other book, but God is there, actually speaking to you as a father to his child. Covet such times
In today’s 'Tis Mercy All episode, Rachel Wilson (@rachellouisa2) draws on Psalm 77 to explore how an accurate memory of God’s mercy can propel us in faith. player.captivate.fm/episode/3dd003…

“Let us make light of thousands of days and desire one day, the day that has no sunrise, no sunset, the one day that is an eternal day, the day that does not displace yesterday or find itself hard pressed by tomorrow. That one day is what we should desire.” — Augustine
The last 20-minutes of this conversation between @SimonGuillebaud and @andykindcomedy is so tender and powerful: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/ins…
Another cracking episode from the New Ground Life & Leadership podcast @JezField. So thought-provoking: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/lif…
Profound picture of sanctification from 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘢𝘯.
“There is greater cause why princes should be afraid of God, than why God’s people should be afraid of princes.” David Dickson, A Commentary on the Psalms
I can’t remember a time a commentary helped me enjoy God this much — so much wisdom and beauty drawn out of the Psalms. Just wonderful.
