Psicostat
@psicostat
We are an interdisciplinary research group working in areas related to quantitative psychology, psychometrics, psychological testing and statistics.
This is in my opinion one of the best papers I have written. It moved preregistration from 'let's do it because it is good' to 'let's do it when we have this philosophy of science'. It still provides the most coherent argument for why to adopt it in the metascientific literature.

In this interview for the Italian Association of Psychology (AIP), we retrace Psicostat’s path: from early workshops to Winter & Summer Schools, up to the launch of the Methodological Review Board and beyond! 👉 Here’s the link to the full interview: aipass.org/psicostat-un-l…
I'm excited to share that the first paper of my PhD project is now published. In this paper, my coauthors, @lakens and Krist Vaesen, and I discuss a systematic approach from different stakeholders to improve coordination. You can read the paper at: doi.org/10.1038/s41562…

Very excited to publicly share news about a new tool, Papercheck, that Lisa DeBruine and me started to develop more than a year ago! In an introductory blog post, we explain our philosophy to automatically check scientific papers for best practices. daniellakens.blogspot.com/2025/06/introd…
#Multiverse analyses turn #uncertainty into #insight. At @ManyBabies, we walked through our #MB2 #Pupillometry multiverse: how labs can merge their analysis while celebrating diversity in methods, and why that’s a win for science 🌍✨ #CollaborativeScience 🎥 and ℹ️links below👇
Our Replicability School just wrapped up after days of engaging sessions and a public lecture! 🎓 To top it off, @g_parmigiani joined our Thursday HandZone, bringing his insightful perspective to the discussion - can’t wait for next year’s edition!

📢 Starting from Monday, our School has been diving into the 3Rs of science: Replication, Robustness, Reproducibility @g_parmigiani (Harvard), Branden Fitelson (Northeastern) & our core team member @fgambarota bring unique perspectives from statistics, philosophy and methodology

🚀 Our Replicability School kicked off Friday with a hands-on workshop by @MargheritaCald on practical tools for reproducible analyses 🔍📊 We also received warm greetings from two key figures for the week ahead, @g_parmigiani (Harvard University) and @gianmarco_altoe

Exciting days at the University of Trento for the BEYOND Summer School📊 With international speakers and Psicostat members among the lecturers, participants are exploring statistical and AI methods to enhance psychological inference. A brilliant blend of insight and innovation!

Ever feel disappointed by a non-significant result? You should ask yourself: Could my study have even detected an effect that matters? A simple way to find out is by computing critical effect size values. doi.org/10.1177/251524…
@CalignanoGiulia presented "Tracking Neuronal Entrainment to Distributional and Compositional Regularities in Sentences"
It's important to be able to go beyond statistical folklore and yesterday Jelle Goeman reminded us of that! Visiting from Leiden University, he shared an insightful view on correcting for multiple testing within the Bayesian framework. A real pleasure to hear and exchange ideas!

Save the date for the 8th Perspectives on Scientific Error conference on 11, 12, and 13 Februari 2026 in Leiden, the Netherlands. …esonscientificerror2026.wordpress.com This is an event not to miss, bringing together philosophers, statisticians, and metascientists.
