AIMBE is excited to share a recent press release from the @HRSonline Journal spotlighting new articles on the role of fluoropolymers in medical devices & delivery systems—and the patient risks posed by sweeping PFAS regulations! go.bsky.app/redirect?u=htt… 🧵 See Below (1/4) 👇
Everyone knows to not touch these particular breakfast burritos at lab meeting, even when “Mike Boss” shows up late 😂👀

Congratulations to Prof. Lydia Kavraki of @RiceUNews @RiceUniversity, elected a Member of the European Academy of Science @eur_sc in the Computational and Information Sciences Division. Already in @theNAEng @theNAMedicine @theNASciences @americanacad @TAMESTX Academy of Athens
Missing the good old days when the NCI payline was “only” 8th percentile. In prior NCI projections, the R01 payline goal this year was supposed to be 15. Sadly, we have gone the other way. 😢
NCI Interim Funding Policy: “With these considerations, we expect to fund through the 4th percentile for those established investigator applications.” “It is expected that funds will be available to reach the 10th percentile for those Early Stage Investigator applications.” 😢
A great article on why supporting NIH (and also NSF) funding is so vital for the US, no matter which political party you support. open.substack.com/pub/yourlocale…
Huge congrats to Jon DeBonis for winning the @Merck Best Poster Award at the @CRSScience Annual Meeting! Proud moment for @Rice_BIOE and the @oleg_igoshin lab! #CRS2025 #MerckAward #RiceBioengineering #PosterWinner #BiomedicalResearch
Fewer side-effects, more effectiveness. @MJMitchell_Lab's lab redesigned mRNA lipid nanoparticles using olive oil-inspired chemistry. Adding phenol groups reduces inflammation, making mRNA therapies safer & more effective. "It's a win-win," says Mitchell.
Thrilled to share our latest in Nature Biomedical Engineering @natBME led by @MJMitchell_Lab Postdocs Ningqiang Gong @DongyoonKim5 on a Mannich reaction approach to create antioxidant lipid nanoparticles for safer and effective mRNA therapy! Free access: rdcu.be/ewN8H
This is very cool! UTSA student-athletes who are first-generation college students will wear special patches on their uniforms recognizing their accomplishment of being the first in their family to attend college. goutsa.com/news/2025/07/1…
The @aimbe is the authoritative voice and advocate for the value of medical and biological engineering to society. For their annual meeting, they invited Dr. Cato T. Laurencin as their designated honored guest. today.uconn.edu/2025/07/profes…
