Be interesting to know to what extent Leo XIV shares this view. Gender ideology is one subject on which he’s made unambiguously conservative statements in the past.
“Gender ideology is a Luciferian refusal to receive a sexual nature from God. It is the ultimate rebellion against the Creator.” — Cardinal Robert Sarah, The Day Is Now Far Spent
The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church
BREAKING: At least 21 people have been killed in an attack on a church in eastern Congo by an Islamic State-backed rebel group, a civil leader says. apnews.com/article/congo-…
An armed group linked to the Islamic State on Sunday killed dozens of worshippers at a Catholic church in the northwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo while they were participating in a prayer vigil. catholicnewsagency.com/news/265591/ma…
This is slanderous. But it is a perfect example of how those who talk endlessly about synodality, accompaniment, and inclusion (not to mention "processes"!) are ecclesiastical tyrants of the most petty and base sort.
Good news out of Detroit, whose archbishop has decided to give his seminary a new direction, retiring three theologians / canonists who notoriously dissented from the papal magisterium in intemperate ways. ncronline.org/news/detroit-a…
When bad bishops persecute faithful Catholic laymen, it is worth recalling St. John Henry Newman’s famous words about the state of the Church during the days of the Arian heresy. (The difference now is that the current, Modernist heresy is rife among churchmen and laymen alike.)
It is very bad news and they are not “dissenters,” but that is the longstanding progressive party line, so of course @austeni has to parrot it. But why this compulsion to add the lie that they are “intemperate”? In fact they are all well known to be measured and scholarly in tone
At least 40 dead in the attack carried out with firearms and machetes in a Catholic church in Komanda, Congo. The faithful were massacred by rebels linked to the Islamic State. Martyrs of Christ, pray for us!
Almeno 40 morti nell'attacco compiuto con armi da fuoco e machete in una chiesa di Komanda, in Congo. A massacrare i fedeli, ribelli legati allo Stato islamico. Ne parlavamo ieri sul Foglio. Perseguitati perché cristiani, nel silenzio generale ilfoglio.it/chiesa/2025/07…
He does. It’s truly terrifying. Rasputin.
I’ve got a buddy who’s pretty high up the food chain and I can’t tell you how much it frightened me to hear he has the ear of a lot of high ranking prelates in our country.
ROME—Cardinal Vicar Baldo Reina, Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome, opens the Jubilee of the Youth this weekend, by a Mass in honour of Bl. Piergiorgio Frassati, whose incorrupt relics were brought to this church, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, yesterday. Bl. Piergiorgio’s short…
When someone as moderate, balanced, scholarly, and devout as Ed Peters is accused of being a disobedient heretic, you start to wonder if it’s July or Thermidor…
Dear bishops, If you feel the need to say “Humbly serving” as part of your social media bio, please ensure that your actions accord with your virtue-signaling prose. @DetArchbishop
Dear @DetArchbishop, can you explain how your abrupt and unexplained firing of three esteemed theologians who have faithfully served the Church and your seminary for decades is consistent with what you say here?: “Pope Francis is calling us to be a truly listening church... It is…
On cue, the unfailingly smug creep Ivereigh rejoices about the Detroit firings, impugning reputations with his patented arrogance and contempt. What a service men like Austen do for the faith! Who wouldn’t want to join such a vindictive, vicious church?
If seminaries need to fire anyone who has “dissented” from the “Magisterium” or who has “associated with dissenters,” I can think of a few seminaries that would need to close tomorrow.
Not only is Lewis incapable of thinking through the second-order consequences of the catharsis he gets from seeing people he resents being punished -- he is also completely un-self-aware. He has posted about his bitterness at being laid off as a graphic designer from the USCCB
Mike Lewis, you’ll recall, is the turd of a human being who joked about Mel Gibson’s house burning down as L.A. was on fire earlier this year. Naturally he'd be quick to gloat over the suffering of yet another of his enemies (while smearing him to boot. Ed Peters is no dissenter)
The majority of bishops (whether liberal or conservative) prefer mediocrities.
Does the Archbishop of Detroit understand that if you just fire everyone, you're just going to get mediocre replacements, because people with serious credentials aren't going to go there?
Well before the convenience of technology, man created this. Imagine the possibilities today, if only our minds set on the Good, the True and the Beautiful
I rarely counsel taking civil legal action about church affairs, but given the libelous things being written about him, I sincerely hope Ed Peters sues Mike Lewis.
