I am not sure how many on here have a photo of their soccer team from 5th grade ... taken in 1965. This is the Tuxedo Park School's soccer team. We played in sneakers on the sloping lawn behind the school building. Soccer was for boys -- girls played field hockey -- who were too…

It’s after 10 pm and this is the parking lot at the local soccer fields here the East Bay (Berkeley). Packed. Probably five games going on. I came to see our son’s gf in her 8v8 coed league final.

Messi ASG situation is predictable fallout from how Club World Cup overloaded schedules. Solution? MLS could’ve at beginning of the year said all-stars from the 3 CWC teams (like Messi, Alba, Vargas, Bouanga) could be exceptionally excused. But that would’ve given Messi an out…
Back in the day, St. Louis soccer dominated at every level of college game. SLU, SIUE, Quincy, Pete Sorber’s Flo Valley. UMSL, Meramec were also powerhouses. Sad news indeed.
Sad to hear that Pete Sorber, who coached Florissant Valley CC to 10 national soccer championships before retiring in 1997, died earlier today. He was a week away from turning 96. A true gentleman and part of the fabric of the sport in St. Louis.

L’Equipe: Matt Turner’s €8 million fee is too much for a player of his stature and age. Also: He is not good enough to start in case Lucas Perri is sold and too expensive to be a backup keeper. (Michele Kang’s new management team has ordered cutbacks to keep team in Ligue 1.)
➡️ l.lequipe.fr/Ugl
Over at @SoccerAmerica, I look at Real Salt Lake attacker Zavier Gozo, his development at RSL, and his push for the U.S. U-20 WC team playing up a cycle - RSL releasing him could be tricky with a playoff push - But he is important with Fletcher injured socceramerica.com/zavier-gozo-at…
Heart-break for Italy. Very soft penalty, then England goal off rebound of PK miss. If rule changes go through, there will be no more second bite of the apple.
Game 1 on ESPN 3— 10/16/15 Game 500 on CBS — 7/19/25 Thanks to the people and teams I get to work with, and thank you for watching. This league raised me. It’s been a wild ten years @USLChampionship.
If it's not red cards, it's penalties. Two in three minutes reduce #SoundersFC lead over Colorado from 3-0 to 3-2. #SEAvCOL
The distribution of its keepers is going to be #USMNT's downfall.
These are the dog days of summer in MLS. Lots of games. @fccincinnati is in control against @InterMiamiCF. It has lots of players who've played a lot of summers in MLS and know how to pace themselves.
It was good while it lasted. One of great 3-month runs in @MLS history. Goals per 90 ... 1. Iloski (@SanDiegoFC) 1.88 2. Messi (@InterMiamiCF) 1.04 3. Baribo (@PhilaUnion) 0.95 4. White (@WhitecapsFC) 0.82 5. Surridge (@NashvilleSC) 0.76 Note: 10+ goals. socceramerica.com/san-diego-fcs-…
First and I believe only time I’ve been to Charlotte was in 1981 when the Lightnin’ played the Chinese national team, which was touring ASL cities. I drove down from Richmond and wrote something about the game for France Football.
Throwback props: @CharlotteFC pays homage to Charlotte's first professional team, the Carolina Lightnin’ with their Heritage Kit. The Lightnin’, established in 1981, played for three years at American Legion Memorial Stadium and won the 1981 American Soccer League title.
While numbers for Chelsea-PSG were described as “strong” in what was referred to as the most important TV market for advertisers—U.S.—Club World Cup final averaged about a third of the viewership as for the Gold Cup final—Mexico vs. #USMNT—a week earlier.
DAZN chief executive Shay Segev said the Club World Cup had seen “over three billion viewers” tune in to their free content. That was three viewers for every dollar spent. Was it worth it? nytimes.com/athletic/64951…
