Never knew how much I needed to see bunnies jumping on a trampoline
Why on earth do successive 🇦🇺 govts keep allowing giant multinational companies to reap super profits from the sale of our resources without paying tax?? 🤯 This $$ should be supporting Australians in health, housing, education etc. theguardian.com/australia-news…
Tonight - ABC Four Corners .
Yeah that’s the one. Now I know why the Australian Tax Office did not want a smart, young, motivated pure-maths nerd getting their hands on ATO data as a data engineer…. [ Hint: I know where more bodies are buried ☠️ ] Four Corners - Monday, July 28 ⚖️
Gaza: Some aid by some agencies is better than nothing, but the complicated system of pauses, corridors & ineffective airdrops is NOT going to avert famine and mass death. Only a ceasefire and full access by ALL aid groups across all border points may work.reuters.com/world/middle-e…
The Birrarung (River of Mists) up in Warrandyte. A calm place to visit right now, given it's full of snakes in summer.
Tim Winton among 100 high-profile Australians calling for university fees that don’t ‘punish’ arts students theguardian.com/australia-news…
Sophie Scamps asked about Sussan Ley’s claim that Hamas is to blame for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza “I don’t think you can sit back & say ‘oh well, it’s their fault’” “Israel is in control” “It is absolutely their responsibility”💥 #abc
A one-off cut to student debt is welcome, but better would be students not racking up the debt at all. After 3 years the Gov still hasn’t axed the Morrison-era increase to fees, & no one is talking about fee-free courses which is what is really needed #auspol #politas
In 2013, Barnaby claimed we’d need 30,000 solar farms to meet the 5% renewable energy target. We built about 100, and rooftop and grid solar now deliver over 20% of Australia’s electricity. When Barnaby starts lecturing on Net Zero, remember how monumentally wrong he's been.
Barnaby Joyce, Feb 2013, telling the senate that we'd need 30,000 solar farms to meet the 5% renewable energy target, and 'it's not going to happen'. Over the past year according to NEM, utility solar accounted for 7.2% (rooftop 11.2%). Thanks @matt_entwined for the research.
Palestine deserves a sovereign state just like Israel - this was always meant to be following the way after the end of the British mandate in 1947
Could not agree with this more. #israel #auspol #law
Aus support for international law should not hinge on who’s committing the crime. It applies to everyone equally and our Govt undermines it at our own peril. Might does not make right. #auspol #politas
Never in doubt, tbh The major driver of his urge to get re-elected was all about the shame of driving around in a 9 year old BMW Poor lad #auspol
Tim Wilson establishes clearly and vigorously in QT he has successfully resisted the temptation to behave like a grown-up
Drug companies: PBS is unfair Also drug companies: $5 billion in 🇦🇺 revenue last year but only paid around 2% tax We should protect the PBS and ensure multinationals pay tax here. afr.com/companies/heal…
Glad the arcade is finally open. Looking forward to the metro tunnel opening. I still think that they should have installed a metro tunnel station at South Yarra to make it more accessible to a wider range of people. #springst #trains #transport @metrotunnelvic
NEW: The historic Campbell Arcade is reopening to the public tomorrow. It’s another important milestone as we get closer to opening the Metro Tunnel later this year.
Australia didn’t look at any other supplier of #submarines when we made the #AUKUS deal. How is this deal remotely “value for money”? Also the deal has no guarantees of when we would get any subs. Seriously we need to consider canceling the agreement. #auspol #money
We break: The Navy raised the estimated price tag for the first of its next-generation nuclear-missile submarines by $1.7 billion, another black eye for a program that’s the centerpiece of the service’s modernization plans bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
WHY IS THE ISRAELI AMBASSADOR STILL HERE?? Why haven’t @AlboMP & @SenatorWong expelled him yet??
Of course we are not “the central player” in the Middle East Penny. This has never stopped the ALP taking strong, principled stands based on morality. The biggest challenge is bending the knee to Trump, Netanyahu and ignoring genocide. Courage not excuses! abc.net.au/news/2025-07-2…
sometimes you have to laugh at how ridiculous Australia's freedom of information system is. Here's what's left of one page, after government redactions (red text), of what DFAT released to someone asking about Australia signing a joint statement utterly pointless
We should expel the Israeli ambassador, Amir Maimon. He represents a criminal, genocidal regime and we should show our revulsion by throwing him out. Israel would retaliate by expelling our ambassador in Tel Aviv, but so what ? Maybe re-post if you agree ?
