Sunday’s Duxford Airshow mass flypast… the weather was a little kinder.
What a weekend! Festival of Flight broke attendance records on Saturday, welcomed an incredible line up of visiting display aircraft & saw most Collection aircraft fly including all five of our Edwardian aircraft on Sunday! 📸Nick Blacow
Possibly my best weekend’s flying ever at the incredible @ShuttleworthTru Festival of Flight. Five displays in the Spitfire (twice), Gladiator. Hawk Speed Six and the Avro Triplane, some amazing formations, lovely weather and great people. A stunning weekend!

What a Saturday night! I count myself incredibly lucky to have flown both the WW1 Sopwith Pup and the WW2 Spitfire Mk Vc in the same show. Two iconic, original single seat front line fighters from very different eras. Only at @ShuttleworthTru!

A fabulous photo of a very iconic and special aeroplane.
‘Spitfire Saturday’ For all those who have a copy of the Official Shuttleworth 2024 Calendar, it’s my image here that adorns the front cover - Paul Shakespeare coming through with a topside pass in the Mk. Vc AR501 in May 2022..@ShuttleworthTru @pbshakey #AvGeek
I would like to add my congratulations to Shuttleworth Chief Pilot Paul Stone on being awarded the prestigious Hanna Trophy from The Honourable Company of Air Pilots… Many congratulations Paul and well-deserved 👏👏👏 @ShuttleworthTru @svas_oldwarden
Thank you to the team at @QinetiQ and the Empire Test Pilot School who gave up their time to discuss aviation and engineering careers with students. It was an inspirational and special day; certainly one for the memory banks. #swgscareers #ETPS #salisbury
Not every day you get to look over one shoulder and see a Spitfire and then see a Hurricane over the other… and then look forward and you realise you’re flying a Gloster Gladiator! 😊 Great video work as always, Peter!
What a combination! Supermarine Spitfire Vc, Hawker Sea Hurricane and Gloster Gladiator at the @ShuttleworthTru evening airshow last Saturday. Just some of the amazing Collection aircraft that will be on show this year.
Great photos, Clare. It’s good to be back up and running this season. The ground was too soft for the Spitfire yesterday but the Bristol Fighter made up for it… 😊
The Bristol F.2b looking fabulous in the sunshine @ShuttleworthTru yesterday, flown by @pbshakey
Just under two weeks to go until the Shuttleworth Season Premier Airshow when we hope for sunnier skies than last year’s event, where Paul Shakespeare brings home the Supermarine Spitfire Mk. Vc AR501 after his display…@ShuttleworthTru @pbshakey #AvGeek #Spitfire
One of those ‘only at Shuttleworth’ days today… flew a WWI rotary engine (Avro 504K), the RAF’s last biplane fighter (Gloster Gladiator) and the world’s last remaining Sea Hurricane. Training Week complete and looking forward to the Shuttleworth Display Season!

“Shuttleworth Week” (Visiting Aircraft) The beautiful Spartan Arrow G-ABWP piloted by Paul Shakespeare at the Vintage Drive-in Airshow in September 2020 - I believe it is currently based at Redhill Aerodrome…@pbshakey @svas_oldwarden @ShuttleworthTru
Great work as always by JH. Very pleased with the outcome!
We are honoured to have produced the ETPS 80th anniversary film for @QinetiQ - here's a preview. Link to full version here: youtu.be/k34mByu8sB0 #aerospaceindustry #etps #defencemediaagency

TORNADO REBORN! We had a brilliant event yesterday orchestrated by our star volunteer team to make the event a great success. We had representatives from RAF Heritage & BAE Systems present, our two Test Pilot volunteers Roger Beazley & Ron Burrows gave excellent speeches too.
Now safely tucked up with her sisters at the ‘Unsung Hero’ exhibition, here’s Paul ‘Shakey’ Shakespeare taxying the Shuttleworth Sea Hurricane at last September’s Battle of Britain Airshow….@ShuttleworthTru @svas_oldwarden @pbshakey #HawkerSeaHurricane
So how do you get 4 Spitfires and 4 Hurricanes from a mass flypast formation to downwind to land as quickly as reasonably possible? Like this…

The 15th September is Battle of Britain day, so it seems appropriate to post a video from the Battle of Britain balbo flypast @IWMDuxford_ . The view from inside @HurricaneR4118 . hurricaneheritage.com
