Our latest coral CRISPR paper is out at @PNASNews. We extended our methods to study gene function in coral juveniles. We found that a hard coral-specific bicarbonate transporter is required for coral skeleton formation. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
It is happening again! Consider taking our course on the Molecular and Cell Biology of Symbiosis at @MBLScience. We extended the deadline for applications to Apr 14, 2025. mbl.edu/education/adva…
Yesterday came the news about the decision to declare Slender-billed Curlew extinct. It's my ultimate favourite bird, so it is quite tough to face this realization. You can read more about it here: vogelbescherming.nl/.../dbb230d1-5…... Here are some of my illusrtations and paintings.
Thrilled to share our latest work from my postdoc with @MartinLabMIT in @Dev_Cell ! We uncovered a mechanism linking DV axial patterning with AP axis extension through patterned cell-cell adhesion. Intrigued? Dive into the details here!
Online now: Postdoc Nat Clarke's @natclarke8 excellent work on a mechanism that coordinates tissue folding and axis extension. Great job and congratulations Nat!
Excited to announce that our 2025 Advanced Research Training Course schedule is up and applications are open! 🎉🎉🎉 See you in Woods Hole! mbl.edu/courses
How to sample and analyse the #microbiome and #microenvironment of the #gastrovascular cavity of #corals. New @microsensing article headed by @ElenaBollati & DavidHughes with @DavidJSuggett & JB Raina Supported by @MooreFound animalmicrobiome.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
Congratulations to Paula Miramón-Puértolas @miramon_paula, @eudald_pascual & @PRHSteinmetz for a new paper just out in @NatureComms 🤩 The team's beautiful work identifies a cell population giving rise to both germline and neurons in #Nematostella ⤵️ tinyurl.com/3eu556mu @UiB
The latest from the @Gibson_Lab, and our first foray into coral development in collaboration with @CoralResilience at @himb_soest: An evolutionarily conserved Hox-Gbx segmentation code in the rice coral Montipora capitata biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Great lab with awesome model to study origins of animals. Apply.

We are sad to report that the legendary Joseph Gall, called the founder of modern cell biology for his contributions to our understanding of chromosomes and the cellular nucleus, and a widely recognized champion for women in science, has died at 96. carnegiescience.edu/news/joseph-ga…
I will miss Joe… When I overlapped with Joe at the Carnegie, he showed me a slide with what he thought may be new nuclear organelles which he was referring to at the time as coiled bodies @CarnegieDevBio @MBLScience @theNASciences @ScienceStowers

Es un honor anunciar el Allen Discovery Center for Neurobiology in Changing Environments. Investigaremos mecanismos de resiliencia y vulnerabilidad al cambio climático en animales marinos. Gracias @AllenInstitute and The Paul G. Allen Frontiers Group! scripps.ucsd.edu/news/uc-san-di…
🌊🧬BIG NEWS: Thanks to a four-year, $10 million grant funded by the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, a new center will be established at Scripps Oceanography to understand how climate change may impact the nervous systems and behavior of marine animals. 🧵⬇️ @AllenInstitute
Excited for all the new science to come!
.@CarnegieDevBio's @pacleves is a key collaborator on a new effort to understand how climate change may impact the nervous systems and behavior of marine animals. Led by @Scripps_Ocean, the new center was launched with $10 million from @PGAFamilyFdn. carnegiescience.edu/news/carnegie-…
