🧵 For those wondering how someone convicted of a hit-and-run that put a woman in a coma and sentenced to 8 years in prison in 2020 was out and driving around *licensed* in 2023, let me introduce you to the absurdity of how vehicular crimes are charged and sentenced.
Derrick Thompson, son of former MN State Rep John Thompson, is now booked in jail on probable cause murder for the crash that killed five young women on Friday night.
Just had a very brief conversation with Sen. Cassidy. I asked if RFK Jr. had reassured him “I’d rather just characterize it as: we had a conversation” I also asked if he was still comfortable with his vote confirming RFK Jr. “I’d rather not comment on that”
Of course, now the fear is that the ACIP will be filled up with people who know nothing about vaccines except suspicion. I’ve just spoken with Secretary Kennedy, and I’ll continue to talk with him to ensure this is not the case. wsj.com/opinion/rfk-jr…

The U.S. built the world’s greatest engine for biomedical research. But a 40% cut to NIH isn’t budget reform, it’s dismantling of the system that will not recover. And let's be clear: Industry won't replace it and philanthropy cannot sustain it.

Interim US attorney Joe Thompson says Vance Boelter went to the homes of FOUR Minnesota politicians Saturday morning w/ the intent to kill them. FOUR. Not two.
that means the city of minneapolis sent out its emergency alert 1 hr after the south dakota alert that vance boelter may be traveling in that state
NEW: The alleged shooter is a 57-year-old white male; according to his ministry's website, he “sought out militant Islamists in order to share the gospel and tell them that violence wasn't the answer.” wired.com/story/shooting…
I got mad and wrote a column: A Democratic legislator was assassinated; right-wing influencers coughed out disinformation minnesotareformer.com/2025/06/14/a-d…
Important details in this thread about suspect Vance Boelter. But, um, if he has known additional vehicles AND visited where he rented in north Mpls. AFTER the shootings, why no vehicle details or location warnings???
Learning much more about suspect Boelter after speaking with his roommates in Minneapolis. He rented a room in the home on Freemont Ave N and would stay here for a few days a month while working, with main family home in Green Isle.
If Minneapolis was supposed to be looking out for suspect, why no detail about where he was (over North, where he apparently rented — with roommates — when he was in cities). Why no shelter in place? Why no word from law enforcement about location?
BREAKING: Multiple sources tell 5 Eyewitness News at least two MN state lawmakers were shot at their homes last night by a gunman impersonating a police officer. DFL Speaker Emerita Melissa Hoffman in Brooklyn Park and DFL Sen. John Hoffman in Champlin. Working on more details.

Q: Are you sure (RFK) will appoint people that support vaccinations (to the advisory committee)? CASSIDY: "I'll have to see, he'll forward me the names, but I can't answer that because I haven't seen the names." Q: Why would you trust him? Aide: Thank you guys, that's enough.
Trump ran on "law and order." Over the past few days he has pardoned a sheriff who tried to sell deputy's badges, a Vegas pol who stole $$$ intended for a fallen cop memorial and a tax cheat whose mom raised millions for GOP campaigns. nytimes.com/2025/05/27/us/…
ICYMI: The White House is exempting products like kids' books from tariffs, but not medical supplies. I studied the journey of the rubber glove and the supply chain of an ER to show what's at stake. The worst consequence: shortages, an expert said. startribune.com/medical-supply…

DOGE said 40% of phone calls into Social Security centers were fraud, so it built a tool to track it. Turns out the 40% was actually 0.0018% and the tool slowed down processing significantly.
SCOOP: Since SSA installed new anti-fraud checks on claims made over the phone, only 2 claims out of over 110,000 were found to likely be fraudulent, according to internal documents I obtained. The policy has slowed down payments, though. Retirement claim processing is down 25%
