A Postdoc @TheSainsburyLab 🇬🇧 working on vegetable NLR networks 🥬 @KamounLab & An instructor at Sciences Faculty (Biology), Kasetsart University 🇹🇭 👩🏫
So pleased to see our Nature Plants paper is out on @NaturePlants 🥳🎉 Check a plot twist on the interaction between the effector from M. oryzae AVR-Pita and a known resistance protein here 🌾🍄 doi.org/10.1038/s41477… A huge thanks to all collaborators @ThomasKroj @BaudinMael
3D paper model of the Arabidopsis Micro-Rose for templating and prototyping my genetic design concepts 🌸🧬 Thank you @HsuanPai1 for this ✨
Graduation day for two of @TheSainsburyLab #Proteomics team members. Congratulations @DraegerMarkus PhD and @Miicchae1 MSc. Double #ProudSupervisor
Thrilled to share an aspect of my PhD project on the discovery and characterisation of a novel group of 'phosphorylated' effectors deployed by the rice blast fungus during infection. With @talbotlabTSL @Frank_Menke @NeftalyCM @TheSainsburyLab #2025ISMPMI
Up and ready! Find me at P-267 today for some molecular evolution and NLR biology! 🥬💻 You can also find the poster and preprint below 👇🏻 #2025ISMPMI
Looking forward to meeting friends and colleagues at #2025ISMPMI next week! Find me at P-267 >>> Session 1, Monday, 14th. In the meantime, you can check out my poster on Zenodo :) #openscience zenodo.org/records/158379…
#2025ISMPMI @Tolga_Bzkrt introduces the effector and immune processes occurring at Phytophthora haustoria. The helper NRC4 localises to haustoria and upon activation inserts itself into the extrahaustorial membrane forming punctuate foci. It seems activated NLRs beep annoyingly.
#2025ISMPMI Excited to share insights from my postdoc work at @TheSainsburyLab on NLR diversity and evolution in Caryophyllales phylogenomics 🥗 Join me at poster no.65 😊🤩

🚨New @biorxivpreprint alert! We are thrilled to share our latest findings—building on our earlier work on suppressors of helper NLRs of NRC family—a Phytophthora infestans L-shaped effector captures resistosome assembly intermediates of tomato NRC3! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/10
Curious about AvrRvi6, the apoplastic MAX effector from Venturia inaequalis? Come check out my poster P-162 during Session 2 at #2025ISMPMI! Let’s talk effectors, immunity, and apple scab 🍏🍄 zenodo.org/records/158437…
Lots to celebrate today — from preprints and papers to fellowships (and a few more I’m surely forgetting)! 🎉👏 Huge congrats to all. Great to see teamwork and dedication paying off! 🥂
It’s on! Jonathan Jones Celebratory Symposium — Plant immunity; looking back to look forward
We are delighted to announce that TSL group leader, Professor Wenbo Ma @wenboEffector, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. This honour celebrates her groundbreaking research in molecular plant pathology.
It’s Isabel Monte @Isabel_MonteG @ZMBP_Tuebingen today @TheSainsburyLab “Evolution of Receptor Kinases in land plants: from immunity to development”
We laughed, we cried, we said goodbye. Today we send off Barbara as she starts her PhD in Wageningen. It’s been a joy having her in our group as a Pre-Doc—she integrated beautifully at TSL and will be deeply missed. Go crush it, Barbara!
We welcome Barbara Schrammel as a predoc in the lab. Soon after joining us Barbara got admitted to the PhD program at Wageningen to work with Vivianne Vleeshouwers on potato immunity. Congrats and many happy years of wonderful potato adventures Barbara!! kamounlab.tumblr.com/post/770147247…
NEW! A short update on plant immunity - Do autoactive helper NLRs of the NRC phylogenetic clade require the sensor NLR Prf to induce hypersensitive cell death? We think: No The NRC network is unidirectional and autoactive NRC helpers do not depend on sensors for their activities.
The autoactivity of tomato helper NLR immune proteins of the NRC clade is unaltered in prf mutants of Nicotiana benthamiana biorxiv.org/content/10.110… #biorxiv_plants
Had a little celebration today! The lettusquad @amiralito_ @daniel_luedke @KamounLab
🧵 🥬 Lettuce begin! Super excited to share our new manuscript on contrasting patterns of evolution in sensor and helper NLRs in the NRC network! Tune in for some plant immunology and molecular evolution… 🌱🧬💻 (1/14) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
