Former School Board Trustee, currently infuriated with Ford putting our school boards under supervision.
This is purely political and has nothing to do with how these school boards manage funds. Generally speaking these boards perform wonders with the shrinking funding they get from the province. #topoli #onpoli #onted
#Breaking: Ford government takes over four school boards — including Toronto public and Catholic — over alleged financial mismanagement trib.al/h0OUvmS
Like I really don’t get it. Why are councillors/mayor convinced they deserve this money? If councillors believe the lack of “readiness” among their constituents is worth more than the money (as they have made clear via their vote), then own that choice. I think withholding…
Toronto agreed to legalize Sixplexes citywide as a part of HAF (which had 6 items the city agreed to do). @shelleycarroll the city didn’t do it. The Feds aren’t fighting you. They’re just not giving you money for something you didn’t do. If the money is important to the city,…
"I really don't know why they want to pick this fight with us," Carroll says of the federal government. "We are bigger than the city of Vancouver by the size of Montreal. So if you take all the area where sixplexes currently are as-of-right, it exceeds any other city in Canada."
Ontario should solve the problem by getting rid of the problem....Captain Corruption,,,Doug Ford
@fordnation stubborn refusal to cancel this deal makes one wonder, what exactly is he getting out of it? Or out of the Science Centre closure, Wilmot land grab and now he’s going for Wasaga Beach PP? Nothing is safe from his destruction
The Ford government caused this coyote problem destroying coyote habitat at Ontario Place West Island, Ford should solve the problem by reopening and rewilding West Island! #topoli #onpoli
Councillor Dianne Saxe's motion to clarify the threshold and criteria for removing aggressive coyotes FAILS 10-12. Pretty close!
On the last day of school, the Minister of Education placed four more school boards under supervision — including the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). The Trustees you elected to represent our schools and community concerns have now been restricted. Join elected Trustee…
Up now: the coyote "coexistence" strategy. I can hear at least one councillor howling. secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda…
Toronto apartments to get colour-coded ratings to ‘shame’ landlords of rundown buildings. The colour-coded rankings — similar to the DineSafe food safety program — will be rolled out by the end of July next year. thestar.com/news/gta/toron…
At council Mayor Chow moves DC exemption for sixplexes; cllr Burnside asks how much exemptions will cost, Chow notes that the city isn't collecting anything now anyway because projects aren't financially viable because of DCs.
This is literally like, pseudoscience. Why would we waste time on this?
Councillor Mike Colle asks about setback requirements for the shelter at Caledonia & Eglinton. "It's right next door to a shawarma place. So we don't want to get the smell of the shawarma, as much as we love shawarma, can we get a setback from that?" Staff say they'll look at it
New Brad Bradford slogan alert
Bradford moves to deny the rezoning for the shelter on Third Street in Etobicoke and do more consultation. He says there were five hours of deputations at the Planning & Housing Committee on this. He says the public "deserves to be heard." He accuses Perks of "silencing dissent"
Manitoba Premier Kinew walks away from pipeline deal: “Our government will not treat consultation as a box to check after decisions are made,” he said. “We believe reconciliation requires shared decision-making from the start.” #cdnpoli winnipegsun.com/news/kinew-wal…
The Premier of Manitoba puts his intellectual finger on what's WRONG with Ontario's Bill 5 (and the thinking that underlies it) when it comes to indigenous nations. It is NOT acceptable to "treat consultation as a box to check AFTER decisions are made".

Big news‼️ City Council voted to take next steps to open 6 new shelters! This will provide more safe indoor spaces for the 15,000+ people experiencing homelessness across our city. See how your councillor voted (note that Bradford voted against *every single* shelter):
And the shelter item as amended CARRIES 22-3. All six sites will go forward.
Brad Bradford (Mr. "Less Talk, More Action") wants to delay and defer a shelter opening 20km away from his own ward. Why? He thinks he should be able to stop 50 seniors from getting access to a safe shelter space. Support shelters—sign our petition: progresstoronto.ca/petition-tackl…
Here's the text of Bradford's motion re: the Sixth Street shelter. Councillor Morley asks Bradford what his "interest" is in this shelter, given it's in her ward. Bradford says he "heard from a lot of people" about this particular site.
We literally turned a parking lot into supportive housing here in #BeachesEastYork. Granted, Brad changed it from all ages to 59+ because he gave in to community members protests, but it exists! I really dislike when politicians talk out of both sides of their mouth like this.
Don't turn parking lots in to housing, says Bradford the "YIMBY". 🤡🤡

Come late August as families and educators get ready for school, “it’s going to be a real problem,” @MacLeanWard2 said. “Expecting the director or supervisor to be able to navigate the concerns of 582 schools is overly ambitious.” 💯 thelocal.to/school-board-t… #topoli #onpoli #onted
