As a former GCC member who served on leadership, I affirm the concerns in this article. Please go elsewhere for counsel. I pray for MacArthur and his elder board to humbly address these wrongs. I speak out because of: Prov 31:8-9 Matthew 18:6 1 Tim 5:19-21

If we can expect 37 elders to become unanimous about selecting MacArthur’s replacement… surely a husband and wife can make decisions unanimously as well…
The question Johnson & Riccardi should have answered is why not continue with Austin Duncan as interim at GCC since he already preached for MacArthur in Feb, Mar, April, May, June this yr. But that answer would show there’s already been chaos in the pastoral search.

I honestly just don’t have a “take” on MacArthur right now. My husband & I are processing his last days privately. I stand by everything I’ve posted on X & pray for him & family during this time. Please pray for the local area which is being/will be impacted during this phase.
Sad news: John MacArthur may not be with us through today or tomorrow. He is hospitalized with pneumonia.

BTW, both of these incidents happened before I came to GCC, and I'm the second or third longest-tenured employee here. Why are all these stories accusing JM of gross evil ancient history? Thoughtful people ought to be able to figure out the answer to that question.

I was a kid at GCC in the 80s. My dad was abusive. Nothing was ever done. Advice was maybe we needed to submit more. Also, my mom was a teacher & she was told maybe if she didn’t work we wouldn’t have these problems. It breaks my ♥️ that nothing changes.
GCC and churches affiliated with them, treat church discipline as a one size fits all, cold and calculated formula to keep their members obedient to them.
