Polling reveals that protests against ICE raids have more public support than Trump's handling of immigration: peoplesdispatch.org/2025/07/21/pub…
Reminder that the wealthy are, at least in principle, not entitled to any more say in govt than anyone else. Mamdani meeting with these clowns is probably smart politics but “business leaders” are Just Some Guys with zero constituency and it’s bad journalism to act otherwise
Tough meeting for Mamdani with the Partnership for NY (CEOs) today I'm told. Stood his ground on "intifada" language and wouldn't commit to keeping NYPD Comm. Tisch, whom this crowd likes, in the job. (Also did not recognize her father, Jim Tisch, when he rose for a question)
The GOP knows the “Big Beautiful Bill” is a political disaster. It’s now law, and millions are set to lose healthcare. Republican leaders are scrambling to spin the fallout. Read more here: peoplesdispatch.org/2025/07/09/us-…

The leaders of our ostensibly leftwing party are either cheerleading or completely silent on the livestreamed starvation, bombing and destruction of an entire people. When pundits wonder why voters are cynical, checked out or conspiratorial I suspect this is a fairly large reason
I have no idea how Gaza will “play in 2028” but I think telling millions of liberals that caring Too Much—in any systemic way—about emaciated children on their timelines that theyre somehow Doing A Racism is sowing unprecedented amounts of cynicism with unforeseeable consequences
We have zero evidence of any institutional Dem opposition to Trump’s Gaza policy. At this point this can only be read as agreement. A letter proposed by Rep Tlaib opposing mass starvation in Gaza only garnered 18 Dems. 18. a LETTER. This means 239 democrats didn’t give a shit
I know the 2024 Dem pitch for Gaza was 10% less genocide but Trump’s been in office 6 mo’s, and accelerated the genocide for four, and the two most powerful Dems, Schumer and Jeffries haven’t issued a single criticism of Trump’s Gaza policy. Neither has Harris, Biden or Obama.

If you’re an employee the employer’s profit margin isn’t your problem or responsibility. They need to pay you what you are worth or they can’t have said employee. Only in the US are ppl expected to have some bizarre allegiance to a company with no reciprocation. It’s a work cult.
Imagine being an employee at a company that has NEVER turned a profit and showing up to work in these shirts.

I just love this idea that wanting affordable cities makes you an insufferable yuppie but wanting billionaires and landlords to extract more money from everyone is the true expression of working class solidarity
Fellas, is it “yuppie” to care about your neighbors?
Wow hospitals are willing to kill people just to make sure nurses’s working conditions deteriorate and wages don’t keep pace with inflation? That’s crazy
What happens when nurses go on strike? Patients die.
“People who don’t understand how rent works” is a top 10 all time condescending turn of phrase
I normally don’t have much sympathy for people who don’t understand how rent works, but one thing I think neoliberals fail to understand is that not everyone is in an “upward mobility” track. Some people will stay at the same job making roughly their same salary… forever.
I just looked up the complaint in this case and it appears that former Assemblyman Burgos (current CEO of HousingNY) is not being honest here. A short thread. The case is New West Harlem Owner LLC v. SIG RCRS LLC, Index No. 651558/2025, filed March 20, 2025 in Manhattan Sup.
Housing is so backwards in NYC that a property owner is suing their bank TO TAKE the property off their hands. Just when you thought you’ve seen it all.
“Let’s make a Mamdani-style video but to increase rent!” lol I’m sure this will work
