There's a thread between Ryan's achievement and some of the other vanishing skills, like cursive writing and film developing. It might be lack of appreciation now for what we give up when we make an idol of efficiency. But I'm just spit-balling here (ha! I crack myself up).
Nolan Ryan’s record of 7 no hitters will NEVER be broken.
My neighbor is a Russian grandmother who saw me limping. This is not new, but Valentina had advice: "You are victim of my English. You must move. Use pool. You are healthy, but can be more healthy. I saw Internet. Internet is garbage. Doctors only have protocol. Every day move."
If the Russia collusion hoax, which was a complete and utter fiction, deserved to lead the news every day for 18 months, how long should any real media focus on the conclusive evidence it was orchestrated by Obama and his top chiefs? Less than a day seems the wrong answer.
Toasted Coconut Latte season sounds better than Dog Day Afternoon, doesn't it?

He's right.
Sci-fi’s essential purpose is warning. Fantasy’s essential purpose is reminding.
"Content creator" as a job title sounds ambiguous and reductionist to me. Anyone embracing that has accepted a gift-wrapped hand grenade right out of the Skynet or cyborg catalog.
Stack poast, 20 July. Because @jacqueboatman reminded me, and because @Avonleebythesea and @hike_r10 and @plainrunner2 aren't alone in their small-c catholic reading tastes.

Revisiting my beef: One woman treats her book as a gift and a portal to another world. The other woman treats her book as an accessory. Skin color has nothing to do with that judgment. Goodreads (the website) isn't pushing summer reading very hard.

I miss reading the essays of Florence King, P.J. O'Rourke, and (to a lesser extent) Joseph Sobran. All three of them had a formative influence on my thinking.
Speaking of silence being golden: Randy Meisner of The Eagles packed a whole world into the astonishing little pause between "Take it" and "to the limit."

So the AC in my house is out, and current indoor temperature is 88. HOA Board mtg wrapped up. And the Beatles' "Let It Be" on my car radio was interrupted by a bulletin from the National Weather Service about flash flooding from severe thunderstorms. It's a fun Wednesday.

So the IRS just realized that Hillary Clinton was in a "Black church" when she palavered on about how "I ain't no ways tired" in that ghetto patois she only uses around voters whom she thinks are gullible. That was almost 20 years ago.
Breaking: The New York Times reports that “The I.R.S. said on Monday that churches and other houses of worship can endorse political candidates to their congregations, carving out an exemption in a decades-old ban on political activity by tax-exempt nonprofits.” This is a huge…

I had a root beer float while listening to Ricky Nelson sing "Hello, Mary Lou...Goodbye Heart." I was also reading H.W. Brands' biography of the life and times of Benjamin Franklin. Amusingly, the book lauds that jovial Founding Father as "The First American." I win. 🤣 🎤🇺🇸
