Huge PR, 76.03, number 3 in the world U20… 80 m is closer now, only 19. Dipanshu Sharma has a tremendous future. Best throwing mechanics I have seen (after @Neeraj_chopra1 ). I think he can throw 88-90 in 4-5 years.
Yup, Tiny beat Randy Heisler, Ron Mckee, & myself. Pretty good comp. Definitely 61’-63’ throws in round 6 but none of us could hold it in the circle. In those days, the NCAA II & III Champs got to compete the following week at the DI Nationals, provided you made the DI Standard.
June 27, 1980 (@TandFhistory) Moscow Olympics: “The Soviet Union’s Dainis Kūla (299-2 [91.20]) and Aleksandr Makarov (294-1 [89.64]) finished 1-2 in the Men’s Javelin, with the bronze medal going to East Germany’s Wolfgang Hanisch (284-6 [86.72]).”
Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr. was the 1982 NCAA D2 National Champion with a 61'8" toss for Cal State L.A 💪 He played memorable roles in many films such as "Friday" and "The Dark Knight". Lister passed away late 2020. RIP 📸@nationalthrows
Mac Wilkins takes gold in Montreal!
Let's recall Mac Wilkins, having set an OR of 68.28 in qualification a day before, as he goes out to a sound 67.50 at his second attempt to gain a big lead that will remain unchallenged through to the end for a firm Olympic title in the men's DT in Montreal 49 years ago today
John Godina made history in 1998 as he won both the shot put and discus at the USA Outdoor Championships 🥇🥇 He became the first man since Parry O'Brien to pull off the feat when Parry did it in 1955. Absolute legend in the sport 💪
Known as “Kate the Great”, Kate Schmidt was a trail blazer in women’s sport! Thanks Kate! #javelinlove, @beau_throws
Kate Schmidt showed spirit in a final that nothing seemed to go her way, lying seventh way down with a round to go, as she produced a last-gasp 63.96 to snatch bronze at the death in the women's JT at the Olympics in Montreal 49 years ago last Thursday
Thereby she emulated her success from four years earlier as bronze medallist at a PB of 59.94 from her opening attempt instead as a 18-year-old in Munich in 1972.

Just for giggles, some of the best officials (routinely work USA championships) call Ohio home. And plenty more of us, live in nearby/neighboring states. We’d love to see hammer opportunities grow! I’ve hosted some in NY!
Dear OHSSA, Annette Echikunwoke learned to throw hammer in Pickerington OH. She competed in the OH State Hammer Championships & had a stellar career at Univ. of Cincy. On 8/6/24 Annette won a Silver Medal at the Olympics. Please reconsider the decision to eliminate the hammer.

July 26, 1976 - Olympic Games in Montreal (per @TandFhistory) “Javelin Gold Medal (with a World Record) went to Hungary’s Miklós Németh 310-4 (94.58). 2nd was Finland’s Hannu Siitonen 288-5 (87.92) and 3rd was Romania’s Gheorghe Megelea 285-11 (87.16).”
Thrilled to congratulate 2025 graduate Caisa-Marie Lindfors, who added another medal to her collection Thursday with discus 🥈 at the FISU World University Games!! #GoBears🐻 | #ProBears
Cold exposure is one of the most ignored natural remedies on Earth. Used right, it melts fat, reverses your age, and reduces inflammation in the body—yet no one talks about it. So, I started researching its healing benefits... What I discovered will blow your mind: 🧵
